This place is occupies the location of the world's first factory and is the epitome of American ingenuity. The museum showcases the many mechanical inventions which made America the Global leader of industry.

This is not a huge place, nor a block-buster of a museum, but if you like to look, really look, at how things run, or were made, this is a really interesting place. Some of the staff working here are happy to show you how the machines work. It's pretty impressive. Lots of Waltham Watch parts and history, as well as Orient bicycles and Metz cars.

This is a great museum and features both static and working exhibits. Though some of the area was blocked off, much of it was viewable while we were there and I enjoyed the broad array of exhibits. They are nicely presented with plenty of room to walk around and enjoy them without feeling crowded or limited, and does not have the cluttered feeling of many museums. The large area available for gatherings is nice and was perfect for this event. The pre-dinner wait staff on both floors was always at hand, courteous, and could not have been more helpful. The dinner was served quickly, was fresh, hot, and of good quality. Very nice venue for the casual museum visit, or a much more formal gathering. All beverages were of high quality. Much about this museum would rate a 5, but the lack of adequate parking and un-shoveled sidewalks from the day's snowfall required attendees dressed in formal wear, high heels, etc., to make a dangerous walk across the bridge to get to the event.

A small museum staffed by knowledgeable people with a great affection for the history of local industries such as textiles, watch making, early bicycles and autos.
Allow 45 to 60 minutes. Near good eateries and the lovely Charles River pathwsy.
