Description: Il Capriccio serves a constantly changing Northern Italian menu featuring local products with an award winning Italian wine and Grappa list. Though long considered a local secret, Il Capriccio has been the number one Northern Italian restaurant in Zagat's for the past seven years. The wine list has been featured in Decanter, Sante, Wine & Spirits and Stuff. The same menu is served in the Bar. We like to serve great food and great wine in a comfortable setting.

Great food, wine-list and very good service. I visited this Restaurant first time: they are pouring our wines too and which very nice surprise to find our Barolo Docg Riserva Rocche 2004 in the staff faves list! Hope to come back soon!

we had a party of eight to celebrate my brothers birthday last evening. We started out at the bar while they prepped the private room downstairs for us. There are some very good specialty cocktails on the bar menu.

The waitstaff service was excellent, not overbearing but there when we needed them. All appetizers were very good. There was a misunderstanding on the appetizer my wife had ordered. They insisted on leaving the appetizer they had brought her on the table for all to sample, while they quickly brought back the correct dish. That's going an extra step to take care of the customer.

We had a mix of pasta, chicken, lamb, and duck entrees, all were very good. Deserts were also very good.

While a long drive for us from southern NH, we would return again for another special occasion.

First visit to IlCapriccio with friends last Saturday evening, and all of us had a very nice time and enjoyed our dinners, and there would be no trouble in getting any of us to return to further explore the menu. The dining room was busy as expected, and with good service (Some may have called the service slow, but I think our waitress didn't want to intrude on our lively conversation).

Among all four of us, the appetizers were all a hit, but the standout was the the Octopus. Dinner entrees were also enjoyed, from the lobster risotto and salmon to the sole. All of us are frequent diners at a wide range of restaurants and we agreed that the plates were all very well cooked and presented, even though there was nothing new here for us. That certainly isn't a bad thing, and I think it is always wise to check menus online before dining so your expectations are correctly set. I don't know how frequently the menu is changed up as this was a first visit.

For dessert I had a delicious and decadent chocolate Budino, quite tasty, not heavy and the perfect end to a very well executed dinner.

If I have to make one negative comment, it seemed that the restaurant may have had a heating issue on the night we dined. It was COLD, and the restrooms were like being outdoors. It was just such a cold cold night as well. We noticed some staff heavily bundled up and space heaters around. Nothing was said when we came in, nor did our waitress acknowledge a problem when we mentioned that we were freezing. I trust that the heating problem is resolved by now!

If in the Waltham area, give Il Capriccio a try, I don't think you would also enjoy your meal.

We have eaten here twice now and both meals were excellent. Both times we have splurged and ordered many courses - never regretted any of our choices. The menu is varied and seems to change pretty regularly. We've tried lamb, veal, pasta, and several appetizers. The desserts are also wonderful. Our waiters have been very knowledgeable about the food and the wine list.

We went with a party of six and were promptly seated at our table. The service was attentive without being overbearing. The wine list is extensive and actually had some reasonably priced bottles. We had Dill Cured Gravlax,Tuna Tartare and Peekytoe Crab for starters. All excellent with beautiful presentations.Entrees included Swordfish,Lobster Risotto,Pan Roasted Duck,Linguine Carbonara and Chicken Scnitzel. The entire party was pleased with everything and we all left satisfied. This is a great place to celebrate a special occasion or to simply enjoy one of the most consistent ,top notch restaurants in metro Boston.
