Although the food and prices are good at Herbie's, service has reached an all time low. A friend and I entered the restaurant at 2:15 on a Tuesday afternoon. 4 tables in that section had not been bussed and we were told "it's going to be a while" unless we wanted to sit on the other side - which we did. 25 minutes later a couple that entered after us was half way through their lunch and we had to stare down/wave down a waitress who told us we weren't "her table." She reluctantly took our drink order and eventually our food order. No apology. Nothing. Zero personality. My aunt had been the previous week at a slower time and had a similar experience. Their waitress was actually spending more time talking than tending to her customers. I will NOT be back any time soon. Absolutely appalling way to treat customers. Guess you have to be a "regular" to get taken care of.

Hubby and I were there last year, we got the Lobster Roll dinner to go - ( it was very busy we were very tired) well worth the wait which wasn't long , was offered a drink while we wait - got chatting with the waitresses and learned more about the place. So far the BEST lobster rolls we have had in the New England area!! We could not remember the name as we wanted to go back but with a little sleuthing (LOL) we found it .....We loved them so much we will be going back in two weeks to hopefully sit and have a meal! Cant wait!!

Three of us arrived before 5PM on a Sat night. You just get in line and seat yourself as a table becomes available. It is very loud, casual and with a lively atmosphere. Ordinarily I shy away from restaurants that are so loud that conversation is impeded but for some reason I did not mind it here. Good drinks at reasonable prices and excellent lobster rolls and haddock., The food, on the extensive menu won't break anyone's bank. Our waitress had a smile and an answer for any questions we had. even though she was extremely busy. I will definitely return.

Some say Herbie’s is a dump or a dive, but we found this place greatly improved since we were last here some twenty-odd years ago. It is considerably brighter inside and the addition of a proper dining area is a vast improvement on the Herbie’s of yore.

We were here for an early dinner after dropping our “baby” off at Petco in Auburn to have her spa treatment, and we had a couple of hours to kill. We had heard very good things from a friend and had read numerous online reviews. We felt the positives most definitely outweighed the few negatives written. As has been reported, Herbie’s has a great seafood selection and serves enormous portions at very reasonable prices. The service we received was very friendly and efficient and we did not mind waiting a short amount of time for our meals considering the constant inflow of customers on this early Friday evening. The food tasted fresh and was prepared well. The New England clam chowder was tasty, creamy and filled with tender clams, not an excessive amount of potatoes. The only slight negative was that it was a tad on the salty side. Our meals, a fried scallop dinner and a fried whole clams and scallops combo dinner, were abundant with seafood, not a mountain of fries to fill up the plates, as is the case at way too many seafood establishment. Drinks are cheap: a 16 oz. Bud Light draught is $2.75, and a freshly-brewed iced tea with lemon wedges on the side is a mere $1.50.

We were sorry to learn beforehand that they serve lobster rolls only on Mondays and Saturdays, but we’ll certainly go back to try them on the appropriate night. We would definitely recommend Herbie’s to others who have not yet had the pleasure of dining there.

so much food for your dollar! I was told about this place and we went. It was worth it! the drinks were good and the food was awesome! so much for your dollar. Not a fancy place so don't expect a fine dining experience. But if you want good for a great price than this is the place for you!
