Don't get me wrong, this is a nice place - we've stayed here twice. But, compared to some other Courtyard Marriotts, with their retro art deco decor, etc., is....well...OK. When you walk into the "lobby", everything is riiggghhht THERE! You walk in, the check-in desk is immediately to your left right THERE...the recently updated lobby/chairs/restaurant tables are right THERE. The pool is directly ahead. It's just of ....all in your face right when you walk in. Everything is pleasant enough, though...just kind of cramped. The lobby does, however, have a few computer/Internet workstations and at least one printer.
The street is kind of hard to find, even with the GPS. You'll be looking for it, looking for it, "where the*&^% is it?", etc. - apparently because of local sign zoning, the small sign for CourtyardBrightonFordOutbackCrackerBarrel is on the GROUND just this side of Arby's, right off the interstate. So, turn west right next to Arby's. The traffic can be heavy here, so if you don't see it, just get into the Arby's parking lot, then look for it.
The hotel is generally is clean, except the elevator floor at times and the trashcans in the entry airlock were overflowing at 10am on a Saturday. This place is extremely quiet, especially in the well-appointed rooms. There were a bunch of teeny-bopper cheerleaders in the hotel the first night we were there, and while we could, of course, hear them while we were in the hallways, when we got into our room it was like we were in a recording booth or something. Extreeeemely quiet. Very nice.
Very reliable, strong, fast, FREE, WIRELESS (or, if you prefer, wired) WIFI/Internet connection. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU MARRIOTT COURTYARD!!
Our King room, that we got for $58/night by bidding blind for a 3-star hotel on Priceline, we relatively roomy with a nice big 37" (or larger?) LG HiDef TV with a couple dozen national network channels and a few local Detroit channels. The room was very clean, except my wife did notice that where the mattress had pulled away from the headboard, down where the boxsprings met the headboard, there was a bunch of hair built up. Buuhhluck!
This place is definitely nicer than the Best Western up at the next exit on US23, but that BW has a little fridge and a room safe in the rooms. Would be nice if CYbM could do that.
Room's bath was OK - sink area a bit cramped, and the separate toilet/bathtub room, with its stark white fluorescent lightbulb and unadorned walls, was like "going" and showering in a operating room. Very sterile, stark, and cold. But clean.
No free breakfast, but they do serve breakfast at prices higher than Cracker Barrel a very short walk two properties away. But, a lot quieter and more pleasant than Cracker Barrel.
Overall, even at $99/night, this place is a bargain. Our King room was going for $154/night on the Marriott site - I would not pay that. Either way, $58+tax via PriceLine was a steal and we would (and have) stay here again.
