Baker's key board lounge has been in Detroit for ever. It's an institution. It started out as a local restaurant and the food is down home good. They even offer a vegetarian option! and they have carry-out for those not staying for the music.
The service is very good, fast but not intrusive.
People are friendly; I was hugged and kissed on my way out by the headliner, Dar'rell Green from Indianapolis, IN. The atmosphere is intimate. People sway to the music. The clientele was mixed and wide ranging in age from fairly young to a beautiful 89-year-old lady, celebrating her birthday.
Parking is plentiful, and low cost ($3 for the evening).
The music part of the enterprise was an early add-on and featured many of the jazz greats. The Discover Jazz Series is great! Wonderful music. The cover charge is $20.00 per person and is not bad for hearing good music.
As an extra bonus, when we left, a bit after 10 p.m., the sky was a blaze in sunset oranges and pinks amidst cotton ball clouds. A wow.
