This weekend was our first get-away to Saugatuck/Douglas, MI, and several friends with very good taste recommended Everyday People to us for our anniversary dinner last night. We were not disappointed!
A contemporary cafe with exceptional, professional wait staff and decent background music (Cold Play to Jack Johnson to James Taylor), the kitchen staff delivered a memorable meal! We shared a Drunken Shrimp appetizer, which was almost like a shrimp Napolean. My husband enjoyed the filet with a butternut squash / apple mix and my 8 oz salmon was served over the best risotto of my life. Unlike other lobster risottos, where the chef thinks about lobster while creating the menu, this risotto actually had 1/2 to 1-inch pieces of lobster in it! Beautifully rich and creamy, this was the best risotto I've ever had! Dessert consisted of a shared creme brule Napolean (creme brule is my favorite dessert) doused with a raspberry sauce.
The wine list and cocktail menu is thorough. We both started with martinis. Mine was a Grey Goose straight up with an olive. So beautifully shaken that it evaporated before hitting the back of my mouth. Amazing!
We visited the weekend of 11/5. Everyday People does not take reservations, and a line had formed before opening even in the off-season, so plan accordingly.
