This is a required stop on our way to Detroit.
The comfortable, casual, bistro environment is even more charming with mismatched coffee cups and eclectic mix of tables and chairs-(some harkening back to a long forgotten soda shop no doubt).
Waitstaff have always been knowledgeable, patient and highly informative about the menu and ingredients. We take our time selecting our order-enveloped in the rich aroma of the French coffee press. There are always fresh flowers on the table-what a lovely touch.
Breakfast or brunch is always fantastic-mimosa and Bloody Marys if you wish. There's also a wide selection of craft beer and craft cocktails-the bartenders are virtual cocktail chemists-and the bar boasts everything right up to top-notch, top shelf spirits.
Back to breakfast. The Eggs Benny is fantastic, as are the many skillets, from All Ham's on Deck with potatoes, red onion and green pepper to the Hungry Hippie, another delicious skillet with polenta, squash, zucchini and goat cheese.
Every dish features fabulous fresh vegetables, delicious cheeses, first class ingredients. Vegetarian dishes are plentiful and the whipped cream on the Belgian waffle is so obviously freshly homemade.
Ah and the bread-the bread is to die for! Wonderful artisan breads-made in house-firm crust and lovely texture. The biscuit is magnificent, as is the smooth and creamy gravy with Detroit sausage.
We started our meal with a grilled cinnamon bun. You absolutely MUST!!
The lunch menu is extensive and entertaining-hard to choose just one thing. We've never had anything that was less than top notch. In fact, we usually order a few things and share-whatever is left over goes into a take out container that can be recycled.
When leaving, we walked around back past the potager. On top of the dusting of new snow, was a most colorful and festive scattering of fresh beautiful fruit and vegetable peels, including green tops of fresh pineapple and an array of other colorful culinary castoffs-a testimony to the freshness of the food and the restaurant's commitment to the environment.

The menu has some outstanding dishes dealing with every type of breakfast. Not your typical "bacon and Eggs" but the pancakes and the skillets are very good. Pricey but well worth it.

We used to live in the area 10 years ago and ate here frequently for breakfast. We were passing through and had dinner here with our kids. Absolutely delicious! The scallops and risotto were perfectly prepared. The bacon wrapped onion rings were devine, as well as the foie gras and the venison. The service was great! Everything was so good that since we are staying in the area, we are heading back for breakfast in the morning. Great to see the quality has remained through the years.

We had a great time at The Laundry!
Food and service were just perfect. Some things could be better though.
There was paper napkin underneath the sandwiches in a plastic basket... I didn’t get it! Soggy paper got caught up with the sandwich. Half of the paper is in my tummy right now haha
It’d be much better if the sandwiches were served in a plate.

Also, one of the restrooms are by their kitchen. Didn’t like it..

Well, overall was a good experience despite those things. I’d definitely go back. Hopefully we go back for dinner.

Thank Patricia R
