Always a staple for breakfast & brunch for myself and my family. Mom and Dad have been going there for years and have graciously invited us a time or two. Now that I live in the downtown area, it's easy to stop in and grab some wonderful food.

Put anything crab or crab cake related on your menu and you have a customer for life.

Great atmosphere and the specials are always to die for.

Do it.

Thank Matthew B

this is a cute, quaint restaurant downtown that is in an older home with interesting places to sit and a nice atmosphere. unfortunately, the food did not impress. the hamburger, said to be 1/2 pound would be lucky to be a 1/3 pound burger. i have served enough of them to know when i see an undersized burger. and it was not medium-it was rare enough that the taste was not good. the tomato was spoiled and after we discovered that was making the awful taste, we took it off, but our minds and palates were already set. we reported it, but not even an "i'm sorry." we asked them to tell the chef he needed to throw out the tomatoes. the burger was $10 and came with kettle chips or the salad of the day-which was warm german potato salad, not recommended by the waitress and not home-made by the restaurant. there are so many places to eat in downtown grand rapids that we will never choose this place again. the service was fine.

This is an institution in Grand Rapids and I can see why. I had the most heavenly ham and cheese omelette, with seven seed rye bread and an endless mug of coffee. Lovely lady serving, so polite.

This is a really nice place to spend an autumn afternoon, enjoying a very interesting menu. It's clean, with plenty of windows for people watching. The service was fairly slow. We waited for more than 20 minutes to get our food, but it was hot when it arrived, and very tasty. Could have been a kitchen issue, but we were never given a reason. All in all, not enough of a problem that we wouldn't come back.
