The good- Great food, pretty hotel grounds, pretty rooms

The bad- Undertrained, understaffed, unappreciated and clearly miserable staff. The pool was a grey slushy sludge filled with dead insects. Virtually no security. Doors and windows have no screens so if the power goes out you either have to bake in your room or open the doors/windows and get destroyed by mosquitoes.

Conclusion- Between hiding under our sheets, swatting mosquitos and sweating profusely we only got two hours of sleep on our night there. We were booked for 2 nights but left after one. This property has potential, but it feels like a failing business that is cutting corners and doing whatever it can to stay afloat. There are better options in the area that are closer to the park and I'd advise anyone searching in the area to avoid Emanya and to search elsewhere.

Breathtaking design, huge chalets with high ceilings, attentive service, relaxing ambiance, excellent value for money. Was being reopened at time of visit and therefore pool water needed cleaning. We spontaneously decided to spend another night. And would go back any time.

Having travelled to plenty of lodges in Namibia, I was disappointed with Emanya. To get straight to the point:

-quiet, cozy place for some real R&R
-beautiful surroundings with great views of the watering hole
-comfortable beds and sheets

-Gates to the lodge open manually and no assistance for guests whatsoever
-The place is neglected- chipped paint on walls, peeling wall paper at bar. cracked glass doors and broken equipment scattered on the lawn as you go up the stairs at reception
-The set menu on our first night was TERRIBLE and with no taste. Waste of food!
-We were serve beef and lamb which I found very strange as most people travel to Etosha lodges to taste game and it wasnt a meal option for 3 consecutive nights. We only got to taste game on our 4th and last night there
-I was pregnant during my stay and I had to remind the waiter 4 consecutive nights NOT to give me dessert/meals with alcohol
-The rooms were lovely but didnt have mosquito nets or protection and in the evenings, the staff would place water bottles in the room and light candles for us but would leave the bathroom doors open and we were met with mosquitos at night. Luckily we had our own mosquito repellents so make sure to take some
-Our package included a complementary foot massage and we were told we didnt need to book a session in advance as long as we went at 10am on any day. When we finally went, we were told that the ladies who gave the massages were not there even though we assured we could go any other day. Very disappointing.

Room Tip: room 3 was great- not too far from reception and not to close either

In general, the place is neglected. For a place built only a few years ago, it is quite scary to be honest. It is literally falling apart. Paint is fading, glass doors are cracked, wall paper is coming off, waterhole viewing area has wonderful furniture that is not kept.

The food was the worst part, for an area like this, I expected more game on the menu but we were treated to beef and lamb. The waiters all had different shades of black and white uniform. It was just appalling. The bar attendants never had all the ingredients and they didn't know what to do to make up for it.

The rooms were decent, but better they had no wifi at all because I could only WhatsApp, and images took minutes to download. They lit up candles in the evenings while we were at dinner but always left windows and doors open so we had to live with geckos. It was a joke.

The place is literally are farm, you have to open all the gates as you enter and the management is very unfriendly. I recall we didn't even get our complimentary massages because the the masseuse had to do laundry... it was a joke.

I advise you only go there if you want to enter Etosha and are looking for a bed. Everything else is bare-able at best.

The place needs new ownership. The people working there are not trained. And the management has its own private lounge during dining hours.

The only good thing was the pool, it was fresh water that is not clear so it didn't cause an itchy eye or taste like chlorine, but it didn't look very nice either.

Definitely not a one stop holiday destination. I would not go back for a fraction of the price, I contemplated a refund and going elsewhere but was too tired to drive out and search for other places online, seeing as there is no network or decent wifi.

Unfortunately, we felt quite disappointed with our stay at Emanya after two nights there. The hotel is located amazingly close to the Etosha National Park (approx. 20 minutes drive) and looks very modern from the outside.

Overall, it seemed that the property was missing some maintenance. Colours were fading out, electrical cables were lying around on the ground and the wooden panels around the pools seemed unstable.

The rooms were very stylish, but unfortunately not luxury. In our room, the old shampoo bottles from the previous guests were still lying in the shower and the shower walls and glass doors were not cleaned. We were advised not to use the room safes, as they were to be exchanged soon. However, this did not happen during our two nights there. The rooms did neither have any mosquito nets in front of the door nor in front of the windows which seemed careless, so closely located to the Etosha pan. Worst of all, the walls were very thin and one morning we were woken up by our neighbours morning bed activities. Awful!

The service and F&B level is far underneath a luxury lodge or hotel. The staff does not approach you and the food often seems to come out of a can or from the freezer. The main courses were made freshly, but were lacking inspiration and thought. The menus were printed on the backs of old inventory lists and mosts wines and liquors we asked for were out... The prices for drinks were up to four times as high as in other lodges we stayed in.....

Overall, it is only 2 out of 5 points, as I believe the management and/or ownership would have to change completely before this lodge could actually reach a luxury level (again) and I would not even go back for only half of the price...
