Visited this Great Architectural Wonder in June 2018.An outstanding exaple of Temple architecture biult duiring the rule of Raja Raj Raj Cholan about 900 years ago.Built in stone with mesh technique, it"s Gopuram rises to about 216 feet.Simply astounding.

The temple complex also houses Nandi having height of about 13 feet carved out of a SINGLE Granite . The site is well maintained by Archialogical Survey of India.

No entry fees. Opens at 6.00 Am. You are required to remove shoes to move in the vast area. Presently socks are allowed. pathways are carpeted to avoid foot burn. Its suggested to visit in early hours. choose Hotel near Railway station OR OLD Bus stand. It will be about 2 km. one can walk to it. Locally, it is called BIG TEMPLE.

Temple is very big. It is surrounded by Lingas and it just feels like we have come to different world. It is one of the biggest Temple where you can see the god very closely and also directly. The temple pandits really should be appreciated for maintaining the calm atmosphere in the temple despite large crowd. Before entering, you have change rooms and these are well maintained.

There is no words to describe the amazing temple architecture and you have to experience the feel yourself by visiting the temple. We reached the temple by 4 p.m.The parking ground is just opposite to the temple and they have ample parking space. Once you enter the temple on the right hand side you will find the place to drop your footwear. Except inside the sanctum you can take photos. The statue of nandi is awesome. It is a must visit place.....
