The staffs were friendly. The rooms are nice and okay, cannot ask for more with the price we paid.

Though it takes about 30 to 45 mins (depending of traffic) to reach from airport, the location is worth it. Its far less messy than Kathmandu or Patan. The Durbar square is nice and amazing.

One thing to note, we had to go through the durbar square to reach the hotel. There is 15$ entrance fee to go inside, but the main hassel is not paying but after long flight and drive its not so fun to stand in line for making a pass and wait another 30 mins. But may be next time I will ask hotel to arrange before.

We stayed Shiva Guest House 1 for one night while we visit Bhaktapur, I booked it via mail, the room price is fair, when we arrived, it surprised us that the boss arranged Rm. 303 for us, it is located in the top floor, where you can see heritage buildings in Dubar Square via windows. The room is clean & well decorated. The bath room is equipped gas heater which can produce hot water for shower that is very convenience for guests. The food served in the first floor is delicious, my wife favor the fruit yogurt in the menu. The breakfast is also very good. The staffs are very kind, & they provide help upon guest requirements. If I have chance to visit Bhaktapur again, Shiva Guest House will be my first choice, of course, I will recommend Shiva to our friends who plan to go there.

Room Tip: Rooms on top floor faced Dubar Square, you can sightseeing world heritages via windows.

My friends and I stayed at the Shiva Guesthouse 2 just outside the square for 11 nights. The rooms were cute and comfortable with wood and exposed brick to add to the charm. We were there in Dec/Jan so it was a bit cold but we rented a heater which worked out well. Kailash and his family made our stay very comfortable and always had a good recommendation on popular sites. The cafe below Shiva Guesthouse 1 had the most consistant and delicious food we could find in and around the square.
I would definitely recommend Shiva Guesthouse to family and friends!

Thanks, Kailash and family!

We stayed here for 1 night on arrival. After a short rest we were able to explore the city immediately. Location is perfect, right at the main square. The rooms are clean but the bathrooms are functionable not fantastic. In december, it can get cold at night and there are no heating. We requested for a portable heater at a charge. There are enough blankets to keep warn at night. There's a restaurant downstairs which we had quite a good meal. We booked transportation from airports and was pickup reliablily. Next day, we booked private van to take us around Kathmandu which we enjoyed very much.

Love Kathmandu and Bhaktapur.

We loved our stay at the Shiva 1 guest house.
Fantastic location, rooms basic although ours had a fantastic view overlooking Durbar Square and good cafe on the ground floor.
What made the family run Shiva guest house special for us were the family and staff.
Kailash, his sister and especially his brother Norris were friendly and obliging and thanks to them made our whirl wind visit to Nepal run smoothly.

Room Tip: 303 304 305 have great views
