“Square of temple and craft”
Review of Taumadhi Square

Taumadhi Square
Ranked #3 of 31 things to do in Bhaktapur
Certificate of Excellence

This place is just amazing because of its oasis inside the crowded city with fantastic combination of Newari culture, wooden and stone crafts and authentic Newari food around it. The temples and palaces with in it resembles the proud history of Nepal and the diverse culture of the people. Recommended.

Taumadhi Square is the second most visited place after durbar square, which consists of the tallest temple in the valley i.e. Nyatapola Temple as well as other temples as Bhairabnath Temple and Tri Mahadev Narayan Temple.

Taumadhi Square along with Durbar Square and Dattareya Square (also known as Tachupal Square) are the three main squares of Bhakatpur. They are all within walking distance of each other. The lesser square, Pottery Square, is also nearby.

The two main buildings in Taumadhi Square are Nyatapola Temple, the tallest temple in Nepal, and Bhairavnath Temple. There are plenty of nearby restaurants. Be aware of walking around the square since motorbikes drive through frequently. I would also recommend wearing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen while walking about.
