Hotel Malika Kheivak

The Malika has a great position opposite the main gate to the old city of Khiva. It means that you can easily go back and forth and also that it is very quiet, as the old city closes up at night and is free of cars.
The building reflects Khiva brilliantly, with a large , light filled central court yard.

The rooms are spacious but basic. However, everything functions properly.

The staff are particularly friendly and helpful.

I found it a haven from the heat and a pleasant place to hang about in.

It is probably a 3 star hotel but the welcoming spirit of management lifts it to a 4 star .

Room Tip: The front rooms look over a large open space to the impressive city gates.

We stayed here one night. The location is good. The air conditioning was poor, even at full blast on high fan. The lamp by the bed went on and off. They don't provide any bottles of water in the room, you have to purchase them from the front desk. I woukd have rated thus place much higher if the a/c worked.

Nice, clean hotel in a fabulous location within the city walls. The room was basic but attractive and comfortable. The courtyard and and outdoor restaurant areas are pleasant. Breakfast was fine. Good cheap laundry service.

This is a fairly basic hotel littered with notices and receptacles for tips. Draw your own conclusions. The windows do open but in the intense heat that can prevail here that isn't much consolation. Its great advantage is that is in the city centre and not far from good restaurants. At breakfast we requested the fantastic melon that is cheaply available everywhere. 'That is not possible' was the response. When our tour director began to jump up and down it appeared. Breakfasts are poor. If there are any, better hotels outside of the city would be preferable.

This small 'boutique' hotel is very well located in the centre of town with everything in walking distance. It's not the most luxurious but is clean and tidy and perfect for a couple of nights stay.

Our ground floor room, situated just off the central open area, was a good size and quiet at night. It was adequately furnished although the TV was next to useless. WIFI works well enough in reception but didn't stretch to the room itself.

Our group ate in the outside area the first night and the typical Uzbek meal was well presented and tasty. Draft beer was available as well as wine.

Breakfast, served as a buffet was OK but not memorable.

Service throughout was pretty good and the staff were cheerful and friendly.

A good hotel for a short stay.
