We stayed here on a recent trip to Muskegon. We were able to check right in. Our room keys fought with us the entire visit and it was aggravating. The bathrooms were old and in need of a serious update. The pool area was flat out gross. The whirlpool had crud floating around. There weren’t any clean towels. No cups next to the water cooler and the sauna was missing molding and knobs.

We experienced a pleasant and convenient stay at the Holiday Inn in Muskegon. We chose this location because it was central to Ludington State Park and Saugatuck, MI. The breakfast was impressive and the beds were some of the best I slept on. I was well rested after a full day of travel.

Upon arriving you notice the hotel is extremely hot and sticky. The signs posted stating elevators are under maintenance which was very inconvenient seeing as we have a heavy one year old. Had to use the stairs which were difficult to find. Walking down the hall huge stains on the floor, especially in front of our room. Got to the room, 223. We can only describe this room as disgusting and disappointing. Half window in the corner, no view of anything besides a rock rooftop. Sticky spilled drink that was not cleaned up on window ledge and Cheeto finger marks on the curtains. Ceiling above the window was cracking and looked moist. Also window ledge grimy and filled with food and dirt. Lock on front door had sticky bbq sauce finger marks all over it. Half a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, unsure if this means the bathroom was not cleaned? Also bathroom ceiling tiles were broken and cracking. Stains on bottom skirt of the beds, gross. Bed frame had marks and smears. We were so disgusted we laid on top of the bed and did not go under the blankets. We could hear the people next to us screaming all night. Apparently no manager was in until Tuesday— it was Memorial Day weekend, really no manager? On top of it all, restaurant was the most disappointing. Service was absolutely horrible. No air or fans on, everyone including guests and workers fanning themselves with menus. Our breakfast was free because of the room we booked. Yet, they brought us over a bill for $25. Not once did they ask if we had coupons or explain the process. I had to talk to the front desk that acted as if my one question was so difficult to answer and I was interrupting them from sitting there staring off into space. If I could give this place zero stars I would. STAY AWAY.

Great location, clean and service was friendly. Rooms are outdated and need more electrical outlets. Bathroom was old, poorly heated and no exhaust fan. Otherwise the room was clean and nicely decorated.

Parking garage is attached but a long walk, with stairs, between parking and hotel lobby.

Restaurant in hotel is good for an in-hotel restaurant.
