We stayed here in August 2017, a family of five with a dog. We loved it. The pool is delightful, if a little deep (no good for small children but OK for swimmers). We were away from the main house in an apartment by ourselves, which suited us great as we had no need to worry about noise, and our dog could wander about outside. The apartment was enormous, plenty of room for five and had an outdoor seating area too. There was no AC but as it was a built into the rocks, it stayed very cool. There was a fridge in the room which was useful, take your own glasses and corkscrew.

Breakfast was taken in a charming room in the main house, serving a large selection of pastries, preserves, bread, fruit and yoghurts. It was a huge spread every morning, we could never finish it.

They were setting up for an event in the main house when we checked out, which looked lovely. So many beautiful, rustic rooms. The staff were helpful but reserved, we felt very welcome there and at home. We would love to visit again. The position was perfect for visiting chateaux in the area. I thought the price was very reasonable too.

Domaine des Bidaudieres is still a lovely place to stay but I felt that in some ways it was not quite up to the standard of our previous stays.

We were welcomed by a new staff member, who had only been there three weeks and was struggling to cope with the arrival of two sets of guests at the same time. She seemed to need to refer back (to somebody) for instructions. The check in took much longer than one would have expected.

We stayed in the only room with twin beds - and this had been beautifully redecorated since our last stay. We didn't need the air conditioning, the beds were extremely comfortable and we were provided with bottled water and towels for the swimming pool when we arrived.

A very new shower head had been fitted over the bath but although it worked well (perhaps too well) it was difficult to angle it in such a way that it avoided spraying water out from the far end of the bath. Until I realised the problem I flooded the bathroom. The bath towels themselves were a bit old and tired.

Wifi was quite good on arrival but we had trouble logging in before breakfast prior to departure.

One joy of Les Bidaudieres is the swimming pool which, on my last trip, the owner, Sylvie, kept at a warm and comfortable 27 degrees. But this time the pool was definitely chilly - warm enough for a rapid few lengths before getting out an shivering but not appealing enough to linger in the pool. It was warm enough to sunbathe but the backrest adjustment on some of the sunbeams didn't work.

Breakfast was fine with plain yoghurt, nice mini pain raisin, pain chocolat, croissants, fresh bread, nice jam, fresh orange juice and good coffee. But this is what one gets as normal and most B&B's of this quality would offer other touches - fresh fruit, cheese or cold meat etc.

So nice enough but some attention to detail lacking hence slightly disappointing.

Room Tip: There is only one room with twin beds - so book early if you want to stay in it.

A beautiful setting & grounds, the building does not match the pictures. An old winery conversion & great for weddings etc. We were given an apartment set in the caves that I assume was where the wine used to be stored ,as the main hotel was full. What we had was very tatty & drab & musty.A saucepan to boil water on a ring to make coffee which we had brought with us! No hot water in the shower/bathroom atall so we boild some in the saucepan to wash! The breakfast was average & I thought maybe the croissants were frozen & reheated as rather burnt & hard! The owner was charming as was her son who got us a tray of tea at our request on arrival. We felt her main priority was the weddings she does every weekend through the summer.

Room Tip: Do NOT stay in the annex appartment,I am sure the main building rooms are much better

The first view from the road was of the garden and terraces and the grand house, but only upon entering the property do you fully appreciate the lovely house and surrounds. We were welcomed by Sylvie with ice cold water, towels for the pool and a warm greeting. We're a family of four, kids 5&9. We stayed in 'La Lézardières', the former gate house to the estate. It's cosy and tastefully renovated in keeping with the age of the property. The main room has a great bunk bed for the kids, very comfy, about 5 ft long max. as I tried one!! Off this room are the double bedroom, which is wonderfully decorated with lovely antique furniture and a comfy metal framed bed, and the galley style bathroom which has again been tastefully renovated. We love this period French style and we loved it here. The pool, terrace and orangery are all lovely. We walked in the garden by the lake and into a bit of the woods. We all slept well despite the heat and some @*#! stealing the air con remote the week before. There was a fan provided instead but it was a heatwave. Breakfast was pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurt, jams, juices, etc and was all lovely, with great service. There's a billiard table in the living room. We wish we could have stayed longer and hope to be back one day.

Our stay at the Domaine des Bidaudieres came from a family recommendation and totally fulfilled our very high expectations. The house itself is lovely and the bedrooms very well and smartly furnished. Every creature comfort has been considered and the owners are on hand to help in any way possible. There is a stunning and well maintained swimming pool and a wonderful bucolic feel to the entire establishment. I just know that I would love to return there at some time in the near future.
