We arrived at the time of all the staff turning up for work complete with armfuls of foodstuffs for
the kitchen .We were left for five minutes standing with our suit cases in the dining room with
about six staff swirling around us. We were in stitches. Eventually when things settled down we
were attended to and shown to our good sized room. We took the half board option which was very good. The local wines were great but a little pricey. Breakfast was outside on the terrace and considering it was only mid April quite warm.

We found the whole experience amusing but very good. Will stay there again if in the area.

Room tip: If you are happy you have a confirmed reservation don't take any notice of the opening and closing dates and times shown on the board outside.Someone will be there or turn up even if it is ten minutes late.

The hotel is situated in the village square next to the church, originally the presbytery for the priest. We were warmly welcomed by the owners and shown to our room which overlooked the village and the surrounding hills.
The room was spacious with a double and two bunk beds. The colour scheme was somewhat garish but the bathroom was ultra modern and very well appointed. Our only complaint would be that the towels, although spotless, were somewhat threadbare.
There is a very pleasant courtyard in which to eat and our choice of the 27€ menu proved very successful, all the dishes being well presented and tasty, made from local produce. The house wine was also tasty and excellent value.
The breakfast was plentiful including home-made jams and again very reasonably priced.
A possible drawback is that parking is in the village square below the hotel, which is accessed by quite a long flight of stone steps.
For a short break in beautiful scenery, this hotel represents excellent value.

This was the first time we have stayed in the Hotel Calade. We enjoyed the breakfasts outdoors in the sunshine and the nightingales singing outside our window. We were out most of the day and it was simple to get in on our return. Informal but not at all sloppy.

Room tip: The rooms were simple but everything you need is there.

This was the second year we stayed at La Calade. It's simple it's not pretencious and the owners are very friendly, they remembered us when we arrived. The place and the village are very charming it's a tiny place and near the Salagou lake, an area we discovered by chance. If you are in the area is a much nicer place to stay than Lodeve and the price is very good, even if you add the breakfast. Dinner is a bit expensive but you have various options but you don't have to eat there if you don't like. We love family run B&B and this is one of the best I stayed.

Room tip: we stayed on the top floor the second time and the room was smaller. The one facing the breakfast area is was bigger.

This holel was a surprise first by the location near the amazing Lac Salagou and secondly by Octon itself. The holel is what we usually look for accommodation, clean, simple, inexpensive and family run places without pretending what they are not. For us just what we were looking for.
