The fairways were kinda brown and bare in spots, but the greens were very good. Very scenic course... read more
Have been playing this course for several years. This year, 2017 I have noticed that the tee boxes are always chewed up. The worse part though, the sand traps have barely any sand in them. Maybe an inch and then hardpan underneath. If you are going to have traps on a course keep them full of sand and raked. If you can't seem to get that done, then fill them in and make them grass bunkers. A shame to see a really good golf course begin this downward spiral. It is early September. I will give them one more chance next year. No improvements....no more Timber Trace on my schedule.
We played 9 holes with a cart; it was a very nice course, some challenging holes (well, they're all challenging to me). Bring extra balls as the roughs are everywhere, and there are some long cart rides between holes. Clubhouse had cold beer and a very sociable man at the tapper.
Traveling from Jackson we were looking forward to playing Timber Trace after reading some reviews. Wow, either course conditions have changed or some others have a different opinion of what constitutes a four or five star golf course. Fairways were okay with a lot of browned out spots. Tee boxes were mostly below average and the greens were terribly slow, appearing to not have been mowed in a day or two. I will agree it has a nice up north feel except the layout is spread all over the place. Long rides between many holes with one five minute trek that must have been at least one half a mile. Rates were reasonable but there are way too many courses in Jackson that far exceed he quality of Timber Trace.
A quick nine holes and my first golfing experience in USA. Despite the fact it was early November 2015, the course was in excellent condition, particularly the greens. The Fall colours were amazing and highlighted what a lovely location for a golf course.
The course was fair and difficult on some holes if you caught sand - I can see why locals carry an extra well-used sand iron in their bags. The greens were fast and true and tricky on some holes. A decent challenge without being super difficult.
I was particularly impressed with the phone on the 9th teebox for placing grill orders - the idea might be commonplace in USA but I've never seen one in Ireland and I think it is so cool.
I didn't have time to visit the clubhouse and can't comment but I will play it again, sometime.
The course has an amazing view of the countryside at every hole. The Greens are fast and the course is beautiful.
This is a well kept track. Fun to play. Well maintained. Price is fair. I play this course 4 or 5 times a year. Try it out.
