I had no idea that they continued the path past Hamburg toward Whitmore Lake! Stops at 9 mile, where you can grab a snack or water at McDonalds, Burger King or Arbys. If you go the other direction, you can go all the way to Stockbridge! Happy trails!
This trail is great for exercise or recreation. It is paved for miles with stops along the way for coffee (Biggby if you hop off the trail at the board walk), ice cream (Capn' Frosty at Pettysville, go through the tunnel then back-track), meals at Hamburg Pub (east end) Zukey Lake Tavern (middle), or downtown Pinckney (hop off the trail at the Depot, head south). Picnic spots at the Pinckney Depot and at the Hamburg Rd. trail head.
We lived in Brighton, MI for 17 years but retired to Panama. We enjoy renting a cottage on Zukey Lake near the Lakelands Trail in the summer. It is such a pleasure to go either way on this very well maintained trail.
The trail look great. Since it was paved in our area we see more cars driving. There is no signage warning, or stop bars to stop vehicle entering the trail. AS we walked on the other day a Ford Ranger pick up truck almost run us over. We had the dog and grandchild with us.
The trail was made for ppl to walk, bike, run not for motor vehicles and be scared that you will be run over, killed.
And that's not the first time we encounter motor vehicles on the trail.
What is Lakeland Trail waiting for somebody to actually be run over killed and than do something about it?
This trail is well paved. The trail extends from Hamburg to Stockbridge. There are numerous areas to park and enter the trail. A great way to get some exercise and see the area.
Especially good for wheelchairs or strollers, since it is so flat. The paved bed of a former rail track.
