Hi Eric, I'm so sorry to hear we disappointed you on New Years Eve. That is never our intention and had we known at the time we would've done everything possible to correct the situation. Thank you for your feedback and choosing to spend such...More
Enjoyed a nice dinner upstairs at this quaint place. Great server. Tried the lamb pops, cauliflower al pastor, crab cakes, mushroom toast and tomato soup. From where we sat, we could look down at the chef preparing our food, and they seem to run a...very clean kitchen. Food was tasty and the menu is diverse. This is the type of small town place that you want to see succeed. Nice setting, quality ingredients, good service. Would definitely come back here again!More
Very well done! Beautiful patio with live music which we only got to enjoy towards the end of our night since it was all full when we arrived. Service was very nice, just a little slow since they were busy. The halibut was beautifully prepared,...only the risotto was a bit too crunchy. I loved the addition of cucumber to give it a crunchy texture. The deviled eggs were so good, we ordered another! Simple leeks and red pepper flavor that night. The mushroom toast was also enjoyable. Their hot teas were great as well. I would recommend coming earlier in the evening before they get busy.More
We Enjoyed picking our our small plates, two at a time, until we decided we’d had enough to each. Timely delivery of food, and we enjoyed experimenting with different items. Comfortable covered patio, music early. We were especially happy to be in Douglas, away from...the craziness of downtown Saugatuck on a Saturday night.More
We enjoyed our experience on the patio. Live music early. Nice variety of different food---can't say I've ever ordered cauliflower in a restaurant, but we enjoyed it. Crab cake was very crabby :-) , mushroom toast a nice blend of different type of mushrooms than...ordinary places. Service was comfortable---efficient, but not overbearing. We recommend!More
We were looking forward to eating at Borrowed Time based on the food photos and reviews. We were expecting an upscale small plates experience and instead it was forgettable food coupled with rowdy ambiance. The small plates were nothing special. The ceviche was tough and...poorly seasoned. The pork and beans was frankly terrible. The pork was a pork belly cube that was inedible and the cold black beans were straight out of a can. The charcuterie plate could have been picked up at Meijer. The limited cocktail menu could have at least had enjoyable drinks rather than watered down tasteless varieties.More
Absolutely delicious and delectable dining experience! Amazing service with wonderful food and drink suggestions from Kim! The dishes tasted IMPECCABLE and atmosphere is stunning, 10/10 cannot recommend it enough!
Lovely place. Highly recommend. This restaurant serves small plates that are perfect for sharing. We started with the baby kale salad with roasted golden beets and dried figs and it was fantastic. This was followed up with the mushroom gnocchi and the special of the...night, barramundi. We still had a little room left so we added a 4th dish, the miso farro-risotto. Everything was fantastic. Wonderful blend of tastes.More
After being in Saugatuck only a week, we have been extremely impressed with the variety of great restaurant options. Borrowed Time is a gem! What an amazing night we have just had! Excellent service, FOOD and a wine menu that is both paired well and...also wide in variety. Robert the owner is fantastic and made us feel so welcome and authentic during our great experience. We shall return! 🙏🏻More
We tried to order to go from this place and they acted as if they were super busy and said they cannot take a big order. So we just ordered 2 salads. We were glad for that. We ordered One cauliflower salad and another green...salad. We were four of us. The cauliflower salad was literally one tea spoon per person. The green salad had maybe 20 green leaves and a couple of other stuff. We paid some 25$ dollars for these salads. The salads were not even tasty. Very pricey place with very less food.More
What an unexpectedly wonderful experience! My wife and I have never done a small plates meal and this was a simply great introduction to the idea. The menu selections were varied, and choosing an array of plates which the two of us could experience together...and share was truly great fun. In the end, the meal was quite customized to our tastes and had the added benefit of the chef's exceptional flavor and texture sensibilities. Every dish was well thought out for balance, flavor and presentation. Even selections we anticipated as familiar surprised us by their complexity or whimsy. We couldn't have had a better meal! P. S. Even though we ate only 5 "small plates" of food, we were quite full and satisfied when the meal concluded. Well, we did have room for a couple amazing desserts...More
Dinner was far beyond our expectations. We enjoyed small plates from the creative selection. Positively delicious.
This was our absolute favorite restaurant in the area! The food was top quality, the servers were friendly and very knowledgeable about the ingredients. We had the Potato Pablano Soup, Roasted Beets, Shrimp and Rice Croquette, Braised Beef with Chimchuri Sauce, White Chocolate Panna Cotta...with Pistachio Crumble and Sea Salt Caramel and a couple signature cocktails.More
Stopped in for a late lunch at opening time. We shared both the beet salad and stroganoff. Both were good, but not outstanding. Would I eat it again? Yes. Would I rush back. No.
The staff was very nice and very knowledgeable. However, I was expecting much more due to the hype. The bar menu if you can call it a bar was absurd. I guess they don't have a bartender. Get one of the 6 cocktails on the...menu or get a can of beer. Yes, I said a can of beer. The food was good. Nothing special. The menu was not interesting at all. Lacked any creativity. Simple recipes you can find anywhere. Much better options right up the street.More
