Spider Lake is pretty but it's really not suited for the public. It's primarily residential with homes situated around it. It is nice to drive around here though if you don't own a home here.

Third time staying there, great accommodations, near to everything great in Traverse City. Shopping, wine tasting, casino's, perfect get away. The retreat house has 2 large full kitchens as well as 16 bedrooms, game room, tv room, wifi, right on the lake. Dining room seats 64.

We stay at Spider Lake Retreat once a year and it is a great place for family and friends to go. It has 16 bedrooms (big ones), 18 bathrooms, and a wonderful library room, a big TV room and so many other things plus a beautiful view of the lake, a wonderful beach, and it has a boat rental close by. We have been coming to this place for 10 years and they really keep it clean.

Spider is a relatively shallow lake which warms up quickly. There is a public boat launch at the south end and two islands open to the public. The island in the narrows towards the center of the lake has a fire pit and is a popular picnic/swimming spot.

Although our visit was in the fall, it was still very peaceful looking out over the lake. It was peaceful and calming.
