We had lunch here today with two friends and were generally very impressed. It was our first visit since the pub was refurbished a few years ago. I had been put off visiting by reports of high prices and a pretentious approach but realised when we arrived that the place has been under new management since last year and is now offering good food at realistic prices. We were slightly taken aback on arrival by a total lack of any staff in the reception area but apart from that oversight service was friendly and efficient. I had whitebait, pork belly with broccoli tips, mash and crackling followed by a very generous portion of Stilton (priced at £5.95). My wife had fish pie and shared a portion of ice cream. The total bill for my wife and myself including a glass of wine and a half of Rebellion was £55 which I thought was reasonable.
