First off, it is just worth it to see it period. If it is a nice day, walking over it is cool and worth it to see the falls. Close to The Mill City Museum. Highly recommended.

I lived near this bridge a number of years ago and walked it daily with my dogs, many times stopping in the middle to watch the birds landing on bits of branches floating by. Other times I meditated simply gazing down at the moving Mississippi river or sat on protruding stone steps and people-watched or greeted passersby with their dogs. Weather created different moods on the bridge--dark clouds moving swiftly changed movement of water, birds, dogs, people. Bright sunlight reflecting gold speckled waters called many to a halt. In the distance a waterfall crashing down onto Ole Miss throwing cool mist on a warm breezy day. There's always something to grab your attention. Entertainment perhaps--a guitar player, violinist, trumpeter might be found demonstrating their talent; or simply the thrill of crossing over to downtown Mpls for lunch or work satisfied there was no car involved. Let's not forget the charm of the bridge itself--it's stone and arches beautifully constructed elegantly completes its mission--connecting two sides over water.

The Stone Arch Bridge is one of my favorite spots in Minneapolis. The bridge's Old World beauty shows off the Mississippi, tells the story of the birth of Minneapolis as a milling capitol using the mighty river, and links visitors to the Paris-like charm of outdoor cafes and cityscapes along St. Anthony Main. A favorite spot along the West River Road bike trail.

We were in town during some bitter cold weather, but did manage to get ourselves out and about a bit. The walk across the bridge into the downtown area is beautiful - on a brisk winter day, under a deep blue sky, the city looked inviting! Folks were riding the zip line across the river, despite the biting wind & cold. Insane!
