We spent a full week here, using Le Mas de Lilou as our base camp for visiting the nearby cities and villages.
Catherine is lovely host! She's there when you need here, though not overly present. Our room (the small studio) was well equiped, and provided in all needs. We visited with a small baby, and couldn't have asked for anything more. The only thing we missed was something hearty (not sweet) for breakfast. The traditional french style breakfast (like many B&Bs serve, include Mas the Lilou) is all croissants, jams and chocolate pastries, which gets pretty repetitive after a few days.
Tarascon as a city isn't spectacular, but the upside is that you're not in a hectically crazy city. On the other hand, I think having a car here is mandatory, if you're planning on staying here for more then a few days. All the nice villages and cities are a bit too far to go by bike.
We had a lovely stay here, and would surely consider visiting again in the future!

We felt very comfortable at Le Mas de Lilou. The property is beautiful and feels warm and inviting. It is beautifully decorated and well kept. We felt welcome and enjoyed great conversations with Catherine, the owner. She provided us with great advice and suggestions on what to see and explore in the area.

This is a B&B and therefore smaller and more intimate than a hotel. We enjoyed our fresh breakfasts early each day and used Tarascon as a hub to visit all the surrounding highlights of Provence. I have to say that the only drawback was that Tarascon itself had little to offer in the way of charm for us. It did, however have a great central location from which to launch and offered a pretty and quiet place to retreat to after a long day of sightseeing.

The only thing I did not like about the room was the glass wall between the bathroom and the bedroom. Despite the curtain in front of the toilet area, it was still rather exposed.

Le Mas de Lilou is a great B&B that is run by a wonderful hostess named Catherine. She immediately made us feel at home. It was a true escape from the chaos of many tourists all looking to do the same thing. We felt like we were living like locals and had a great base to tour from.
Catherine (and her dog) were the best. We felt like part of the family, and enjoyed great conversations. She was extremely helpful in giving us suggestions on sites to see. We also took a cooking class with her which involved a trip to the local market first. We learned so much, yet the class was relaxed and easy going as well.
We stayed in the studio and found it to be extremely comfortable and quiet.

We had a private french cooking class for six at our rental property. Catherine was a fantastic instructor and she worked with us prior to class on the menu. Even though she runs her own B&B, she was willing to travel to our close by rental property to teach the lunch meal class. It was one of our favorite experiences while in Provence. We made a 4 course lunch with olive cakes, profiteroles, shrimp risotto and beef bourginon. She was patient and made each of us take on a task so we could be hands on in the kitchen. After the class we enjoyed a lovely lunch with wine. It was one of our favorite experiences with the Le Mas de Lilou owner Catherine.

Room Tip: Tell Catherine your likes and dislikes prior to class so she can offer a menu that you can agree on prior to french cooking class.

I booked 2 cooking classes for my clients at Le Mas de Lilou. Catherine's kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. Each of us had plenty of work space around the center island. On both occasions, Catherine led us through the recipes for starters, entrees, main dishes and sides and a dessert. I had the opportunity to review and modify the menu for each group prior to the actual class. Catherine used fresh, local and high quality ingredients in the various dishes and was very accommodating of client food preferences. Catherine's tutelage included kitchen techniques and tips in addition to the step-by-step preparation of the recipes.
After preparing the courses, we sat on the terrace under the beautiful trellis and savored the fruits of our labor with wine and good conversation.
The Mas de Lilou gardens are beautiful and the roses were in full bloom, providing the perfect backdrop for a very enjoyable culinary experience.
