The Dragon Fly cabin is close to the highway, but inside the cabin, you don't hear it. Beds are downstairs and there was no road noise. Fully furnished kitchen with oven and microwave. Washer and dryer. Fire pit and fireplace. Miles of trails in the resort, but the upper trails are not well marked. Our host, Linda was friendly and welcoming. Two other rentals. One with full king suite on first floor and 3 beds and 1 bath upstairs. The lodge doesn't have a proper first floor bedroom. The lodge has a big screened in porch with fireplace. GREAT place to host a wedding. Grounds are very well maintained.

Restful inns have a way of letting you set schedules, let you decide if you want to share meals with others, and knowing when to leave you alone. This is not one of those inns. After a 20-minute explanation on how the bathroom fixtures worked, we were exhausted. Then came the precise eating schedule, followed by suggestions on what to do with our time there. More like boot camp.

My lovely friend, Lisa, put together a wonderful weekend for a bunch of friends, old and new, to get together and celebrate! The property is an easy drive from St. Louis, it's got wonderful accommodations, and the surrounding landscape is beautiful. It sits on 80 acres in Iron County, MO and it has two charming man-made lakes with paddle-boats, canoes and kayaks. The property is kind-of split into two separate living quarters, the main house which is a bed and breakfast, and then if you head down a gravel road you enter the area with the katydid cabin and the vincent lodge. Our party occupied this part of the property. It was spacious and private. We felt like we were worlds away from the hustle and bustle of everything. The houses were stocked with everything you need. Linens, clean towels, dish detergent, cleaning supplies, washer/dryer, wood for the fire pits. The jacuzzi tub was such a treat after floating all day on Saturday! We were only about a 20 minute drive from Twin Rivers Lodge, which is where we rented our rafts and canoes for the float trip. Everything went so smoothly for the day and the weekend was full of some great moments that we all will cherish. If you have a group that wants to celebrate in style.....Dragon-Fly-In is the place to go.

Room tip: the cabins and houses are listed as sleeping a certain amount of people while using air mattress space as part of this number

This was a perfect place for our Memorial Day Weekend getaway. It was an easy drive from St. Louis, but far enough away that we really felt like we were getting away from it all. Great location if you are looking to visit the state parks, do a float trip, or visit wineries. In addition, the property has two private lakes for canoeing, paddleboating, kayaking or swimming, and several different hiking trails (although be on the lookout for ticks...they were out in full force!)

The hosts were wonderful. The breakfasts they prepared were fantastic. They always left drinks and snacks around the house, so we never went hungry. They were also great at making recommendations on where to eat, directions, etc. We stayed in their more expensive room, but we were able to take a peek at the other room and it also looked very nice. We did not go in the cabins as they were rented, but from the outside they looked very well kept. It would also be a lovely place for someone looking for an outdoor wedding.
