We travelled to Iru Fushi on Boxing Day for an eight stay. It was just as we hoped, and other reviews have also said, paradise!
We were met off our short (40 minute) seaplane journey from Male by our butler Fayaz, who took us to the main Waterfront bar for a short resort orientation over a glass of fizz, before we were shown to our overwater villa.
Everything was perfect - champagne in the room, plus a well stocked mini bar, welcome truffles, etc. We were on the all inclusive package, so our mini bar was restocked everyday, including wines and beer as part of this.
Guests have access to the Iru Fushi app, where you can book the various restaurants, trips, spar treatments, etc. as well as being able to save and view your itinerary. You also have your butler on hand to help organise any trips and help plan your stay.
Fayaz was brilliant, as were all the staff on the island - everyone is so friendly and helpful, but at the same time giving you space to relax and enjoy your holiday. The food choices were also amazing, with Bamboo (Asian) and Taste of India being our favourites. That said, we tried all the restaurants/bars whilst there, and all were equally good.
One of the activities they put on is a daily treasure hunt, which my son found on our third day. The 'treasure' was actually a free meal at the upmarket a la carte restaurant The Islanders Grill, which was very generous and a lovely touch. We also had access to both the buffet and Trio restaurant for breakfast, the latter offering an a la carte menu with a wide variety of freshly cooked to order options.
Although mainly relaxing, swimming and snorkerling, we did find time to fit in some of the free activities on offer, such as the sunset boat cruise, island tour, and nature walk. Again all thoroughly recommended, and very well organised.
I can honestly say this was one of the best holidays we have all been on, with New Years Eve being a particularly highlight for us all. We started with drinks and canapés on the beach (the champagne was flowing all evening), then had an amazing dinner at Flavours restaurant (French, but with a special NYE menu), and then concluding with live music, DJ and fireworks back at the main bar. Which, incidentally, was open 24 hours a day every day!
The only slight blip to the holiday was the weather on the last couple of days wasn't great, with bad rain on our last full day. This obviously couldn't be helped, and we still managed to do some snorkerling (there is a good house reef), and then relax with a few cocktails in one of the many covered bar areas.
All in all a very memorable trip - I wouldn't hesitate recommending this resort to anyone wanting to sample paradise. And as a final point, it obviously doesn't come cheap, but my wife and I agreed that you certainly get your money's worth.
