Description: Tony's, a St. Louis landmark and nationally acclaimed restaurant, has featured award-winning food, service, and ambiance for more than 40 years. Recognized year after year with the AAA Four-Diamond Award and the Forbes (formerly Mobil) Four-Star Award, among others, executive chef Vincent P. Bommarito creates a signature menu. From lobster albanello to a veal loin chop with truffle sauce, from filet mignon of swordfish to a luxurious tasting menu, all dishes are finished tableside. Tony's complements each meal with a medal-winning wine collection and decadent house-made desserts. Servers, many with Tony's for decades, anticipate guests' needs to create an extraordinary dining experience. Every guest is treated to the gracious hospitality one would receive walking into the Bommarito family's home. Generations of families celebrate special events at Tony's; business and leisure travelers make sure to include dinner at Tony's in their visit.

This Italian restaurant was close to our hotel. Our waiters were very gracious and made helpful suggestions concerning the menu. Food presentation was great. Waiters were attentive during the whole meal. They made our anniversary dinner memorable with a menu with our names and anniversary year. For a special event I would recommend this Italian restaurant.

Tony’s knows how it’s supposed to be done. From the greeting at the host stand to the impeccable service and mouth watering food we were treated the entire night.

Our dining experience was excellent! The menu has a variety of options and everything we had was delicious, from appetizers to entrees to dessert.

The atmosphere was a quiet and enjoyable evening of fine dining.

We will be back!

What an amazing dining experience! We were in Town for a quick overnight trip. Found this restaurant from various reviews. Fell in love with the place the moment we walked in. The servers were professional, courteous, knowledgeable about all aspects of the menu and the wine list. We had a Brunello that was delicious. Their wine list was not extensive (loved that) but had a great selection and well-priced. The food was amazing. We had the prosciutto w melon, bursts w heirloom tomatoes, fettuccine with duck confit and veal sausage-stuffed quail with tenderloin. Can’t say enough about this place.

What else can you say about Tony's? It is a St. Louis landmark, the restaurant by which all others in St. Louis are measured, a AAA Four-Diamond recipient, a Forbes Four-Star Award winner, St. Louis' Restaurant of the Year in 2014, the first restaurant you think of when dining out in St. Louis. When I worked in St. Louis in the 1960s, Tony's was the restaurant of choice. It has been a one-of-a-kind restaurant since it was created by the Bommorito family in 1946. Since then, it has moved from its original location at 826 North Broadway to its current address at 410 Market Street. Not much else has changed, however. Gentlemen still are required to wear jackets, all dishes are prepared tableside and old-timers still order such time honored favorites as lobster albanello, veal loin chop with truffle sauce and filet mignon of swordfish. Tony's is an old-time Italian restaurant with an old-world feel. One modern touch is the impressive Wall of Wine in the dining room. No wine cellar here. Of course, we're not wine drinkers, just coffee and ginger ale, please. For starters, we ordered sauteed shrimp and pate of duck liver and Caesar salad and tomato bisque. For entrees, the choices were grilled filet of halibut and sauteed Dover Sole. For dessert, we shared a triple chocolate torte. The menu, which includes a tasting menu, is filled with delicious options among the appetizers, entrees and desserts, as you would expect from a restaurant that has been pleasing customers for more than 70 years.

While I can't write a review of the food and service inside the restaurant, I can review the reception received as we arrived at the host kiosk. We weren't greeted with a friendly "Hello-welcome to Tony's". Rather we were sized up and down by the host looking down his nose. He asked if we had a reservation and I told him we did. He claimed to not find the reservation and I told him we had received a phone call verifying the reservation. He said they don't call, and I proceeded to pull up the phone number on my phone that showed they did. He then somehow found our reservation and said he could accommodate our 7 guests but then claimed that they don't allow shorts in the dining room. At that point I was done. I did see that they have a no shorts policy in the dining room, but the bar is casual. He never gave us that option. IF he had been accommodating and pleasant in bringing up the no shorts policy, we would have been fine. If he had been pleasant and accommodating when we arrived, things might have been different. This guy was so unpleasant and snobbish that we decided to go elsewhere. Tony's needs to actually take a look at the man at the front desk. He was so unpleasant that it's left such a bad taste in 7 diners mouths that none of us EVER want to dine at Tony's, no matter how exceptional the reviews are.
