Caleco's Restaurant has a good breakfast, and the service was good. It was about two blocks from the Arch, so not a far way to walk.

I have been going to Calecos for over 25 years, way back to when they were in their old location on Broadway. I have known them and supported them for years and have never had a problem until now. You can tell by the reviews over the last few weeks they are not focused on the service and need to turn things around or they are going to close.

We had no problem getting seated immediately. We got there early enough to beat the baseball pregame rush. That did not matter though because the staff or the kitchen were not prepared at all. Service was good but extremely slow. It took 45 minutes to an hour to get our food, and nothing in our order was complicated that is should have took that long. We had no appetizers or salads so we should have been done eating and out of there by the time we got the food. Other tables that got there well after us got their food first. Unacceptable

The actual food is a whole different story. I used to rave about this place having good Italian food right in the middle of downtown, but every thin we got last night was very poor. Toasted ravioli overcooked, meat sauce was over seasoned and very bad tasting. My favorite, the pasta con broccoli, was off and did not taste great. Cheese garlic bread was lacking garlic. Kids burger was basically burned, very over done. Spaghetti was not spaghetti noodles. Very poor performance in the kitchen. Asked to see a manager after the poor timing on food along with the poor taste, no one ever came. I have never had a bad experience there but this one may have ruined it for me.

We came here for lunch, and while we were impressed with the choice of food, we were sadly disappointed with the service. It was SO slow. It wasn't even a day where Cardinals were playing which wouldn't have been an excuse anyway, (as they should surely have staffed appropriately), we had to keep flagging down the staff. The food was fine, basic, unhealthy fried type food, and a few unhealthy salads and pastas. Really Really nothing to shout about.

However if you came for a drink pre-match, I would think it's much better as it has a nice bar. So come for a drink for cheap, pretty poor food, nothing more.

Good location, close to the arch and the ballpark. That is a positive. Toasted ravioli was recommended as a local specialty by someone working at the arch, but it was just so-so. The service was mediocre. Some of them tried hard but we had to wait a bit long between contacts. Hostess seemed perfunctory and bored. Of course it may have just been one off night. Or maybe that is normal there.

I realize there was a baseball game (starting in 60 mins) - that should not have prompted an almost 60 minute a wait for a table. There were tables available that could be pushed together to accommodate our family. Not understanding why this wasn't done and didn't understand the reason given. Just take 2 tables of four (8) to seat 6 guest - duh !!! Our server Kayla was welcoming and took our order - another 60 min wait - WHY! After complaining the manager came over with a weak apology & offer free desert OR discount the meal. Poor customer management skills on his part. When we leftt and standing outside - another couple came out the door complaining shouldn't take an hour to get wings! Will never return or bring guest. The only reason for this visit we had family staying at the Hilton. Food was so so.
