Located in downtown Springfield (which has seen better days), Flame Steakhouse is a worthy destination for a upscale meal. Our party of two arrived shortly after 9:00 on a weekday night after stopping at a nearby brew pub and being told that their kitchen had already closed for the evening. This turned out to be fortunate for us since we were warmly welcomed at Flame and enjoyed a meal that ranked as one of our best in recent memory. The bread plate included two unusual and yummy selections to start off our dining experience. Our entrees of choice were the filet mignon and ahi tuna. Both were perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. Prices might be considered high for the area but seemed reasonable considering the level of food and service this restaurant offers. The only caution is that sound carries and the noise level can get high, but this should not discourage diners from giving Flame a try and having a fine dining experience.
