We extended a trip into southern Montana a day because I had heard this canyon was a gorgeous drive. It wasn't ugly or anything, but with our eyes so used to Glacier, Grand Tetons, Arches, Bryce and Zion National Parks, it just seemed only so-so.

We live part of the time in Florida and part of the time in Montana. We sometimes make the trip by road.. From Montana to South Florida, there is some nice scenery, but if you asked me to name a stretch of road prettier than Bozeman to Big Sky through the Gallatin Canyon I couldn't tell you a better one,
Can get slippery during the winter as there are several curves

As in almost all of Montana Rocky Mountain areas, the scenery is breath taking. Gods work at its finest.

Have someone else drive, as you take the passenger's seat to bask in one of the most beautiful canyons in the West! The trout-filled Gallatin River weaves in and out of the Gallatin Range, home to such real estate developments as Big Sky, Moonlight Basis, and the millionaires' Yellowstone Club. Stay on the highway and avoid most of the trophy homes. The scenery so far has resisted major commercial blight, but real estate erosion continues off-road. Stick to the river, stop to smell the fresh air and flowers, and slow down for just awhile. It's worth it.

Long driving vistas replete with wildlife and snow in May! Roads were in good shape and many coffee huts along the way.
