Daly River Mango Farm
Reviewed 3 August 2016

This is a really friendly and slightly quirky caravan park overlooking the mighty Daly River. It has nice shaded camp sites and a few cabins and is surrounded by mature mango trees. At certain times of the year it is packed with fishermen chasing barramundi, but for most of the dry season it is a nice mix of NT locals and grey nomads.
Mango Farm was completely underwater during the Xmas 2015 floods, but there is little evidence of that.

Whilst the infrastructure is a bit old and the place could do with some investment, the management work very hard and keep it spotless. They are also very helpful and friendly which is not always guaranteed in the outback.

It is about 220km from Darwin via a very good sealed road, but we drove down from Darwin via the Reynolds River 4X4 track that goes through Litchfield NP. The Reynolds Track is a great drive if you have 4X4 and takes about 2-3hrs. There are a few small river crossings, but nothing too dramatic. Great range of landscapes along the track.

A tip for once you get to Mango Farm is to have a few beers in the early evening overlooking the river and you will most likely glimpse a fairly large crocodile or two.

Room Tip: We camped, so can't comment on the cabins.

Just spent 4 nights in our trailer camper at this lovely location. Nice a relaxing, fish were not biting but the river was still lovely to cruise along and there were plenty of crocs! Grounds are lovely with plenty of nice green grass. We made use of the camp kitchen BBQ one night and it was great - no bugs! The facilities are spotless thanks to the friendly team working there and Margaret and Shaun are wonderful hosts! Thank you so much, we will return!

To correct the previous writer. The Mango Farm was flooded along with the community of Nauiyu over Christmas 2015 and have had builders in making repairs, thus the late opening date this year. There are now two cabins, a single room and a family unit available for rent. There is ample room for camping, tents, camper trailers and caravans both powered and unpowered with large spa our shady sites. The 6km of dirt road has been graded, and is easily accessible by sedan, and quite often is. The Bistro is under repair currently again due to the fact it was under water, however the nearby Daly River Inn (7km) does counter meals for lunch and dinner and is very reasonably priced. The Farm has its own boat ramp and mooring pontoons and the swimming pool is now back to its former glory pre-flood and being enjoyed by guests for the last 5 days.

Tripadvisor seriously needs to review the properties listed throughout the Northern Territory or include a section for campgrounds. Unfortunately many of the rural properties in Northern territory have reviews from campers rather than people seeking a room. Mango Farm does not currently or has not for a few months had rooms to rent. It is on a dirt track on the West side of the river - ideally you have 4wd and are aware that it is self catering. Next door is Perry's that has one air conditioned self catering room. These are not locations you drive to with a standard car or after dark. Most visitors have campers and are staying a week or so. There is no food anywhere nearby - we checked the pub - so you must bring your own food and really need a car that can handle a long track. The nearest shop is in Naulyu and is very expensive.

Room Tip: Call to make sure they have rooms because they don't right now!
