We secured online reservations at Lotus, often sited as the best Thai restaurant in the country, well in advance. The original location suffered extensive water damage and has not reopened to date, but the owners are now operating out of the old Roy's location. It had been just over 15 years since we last dined at Lotus so we decided to try our favorite appetizer, nam kao tod, a crispy rice salad with diced sour sausage. It was very good, but the amount of sausage has decreased over time.

For entrees we chose seafood drunken noodles and curry catfish with both being a disappointment. The seafood in the drunken noodles included the inferior green lip mussels and imitation crab. The problem with the catfish was several of the small pieces were overcooked. The actual facility is very nice and service was prompt though at times rushed in an apparent attempt to turnover tables as soon as possible.

We came late at 9:15 on a Friday night. We had to wait 45 minutes and when we were seated at 9:55 we were told kitchen would close in five minutes. Not the warmest of welcomes but anyway... solid Thai food. Excellent coconut and chicken soup. Beef salad had nice balance of flavors but wish there had better quality and more of the beef. We ordered medium level of spice in all dishes and wished we had upped it a notch.

We've eaten at Lotus twice now. Once at the old location (now being remodeled) and now the new location. The dumplings and the crispy rice were delicious appetizer choices. We strongly recommend both the sea bass and the duck in drunken noodles. Also, we recommend the crispy prawns. Eating crispy shells seems like it should be strange, but it tastes perfectly amazing. The staff are so amazing! And their new place is beautiful!!

Make sure the address is right, the old place had storm damage and they have moved to flamingo road. most people know...but still. This place is fantastic! I can't say enough. Crispy rice? Amazing! Garlic Prawns!!!I never thought they could do things like that with food. truly amazing! If you leave Vegas without eating here, you have lost.
