I called into this old time saloon whilst visiting Virginia City. A real old gem of a place. Nice and clean and presented just as it would have been in the days of old. Seats at the back look out over the nearby countryside. Friendly staff only too happy to chat and provide you with the history of the saloon and the town itself whilst you enjoy their liquid or food refreshments

We have been visiting Virginia city for years. We were looking forward to our visit there this weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. We wetter sorry to see the slot machines gone from the delta and the bonanza. We won't be back until we hear the machines are back.

There are a number of bars/saloons on the main street of Virginia City. The name of this one makes it a must see. The trolley tour guide said the bar got it's name from the mop water's color after a bar-fight one night (and the clean up afterwards). I just stepped in to see it. It has the typical room long bar and mirror of the old west period. It claims to be "the original" and "since 1876". You can get a mug, a shot glass or other souvenirs to put in your collection if you are so inclined. When you learn about life in the town back in the day, it is not surprising how tough the saloons were, as well.

We had a drink overlooking the 100 mile view. A charming old saloon with period artefacts, and a live banjo player while we were there. Very friendly staff. Lovely pit stop.
