Mittersill Alpine Resort

We liked this historic, yet updated resort quite a bit. It is located in what we thought was a very central location that didn't seem far from anywhere we wanted to go, and was in fact very close to many places such as stores and attractions. The one problem we did have however was that despite the time of year when we went (late Sept), there was a heat wave of upper 80s to lower 90's for almost the whole week, and there is no air conditioning at all in this resort. Considering that this is mostly a winter destination with great ski hills right behind it, this wouldn't be a problem during colder weather. But for us it was almost unbearable. Especially walking into the front lobby which was absolutely suffocating. Lucky for us we had a bottom level suite on the north (shady) side of the bldg, but it was still kinda hard to bear even though they do supply fans. Staying in a suite facing the sun during hot weather would have to be nothing short of totally unbearable I'm sure, so keep this in mind when booking. Having said all that, we enjoyed the place aside from the heat, which btw also negatively affected our activities outside the resort such as hiking etc. We went up the Cannon Mtn cable tram which is right behind the resort which provided a great high angle view of the Mittersill, and also has some very interesting history of the Mittersill and the Austrian Baron who built it posted within the building at the summit. This resort was built in the mid-40's and while it does appear older in some respects, we found that to be part of its charm, and our suite was very nice and it had just about everything we needed except a pizza pan and cutter (no blender either). For the record, we knew the place had no A/C from reading other reviews, but we thought it wouldn't be an issue since we went the last week of Sept, but Mother Nature had other plans.

Room Tip: Stay on the north side in warmer weather due to no A/C. No views this side though just a pkng lot.

My son & family went. My wife went as well. I came up during the week and stayed three days. I found the facility needing exterior maintenance and roof shingles. The grounds are older landscape, but well grooomed and maintained. The interior of the facility older but very clean. I found the staff to be friendly and welcoming. Their bar/lounge is open to the public and is a closely guarded secret. It is cozy and they serve food. I found the lady in charge to be very friendly and talkative. I would certainly welcome the opportunity to go back.

Room Tip: The back rooms offered a view of Canon Mountain.

Got a great deal on Heros Vacation. It is very convenient to seeing a lot of New Hampshire and Vermont. It is very dated with no air conditioning. It would not have been so bad if they had not been having a heat wave the last of September. The office is only open between 4-7 pm.

Room Tip: Don't come if it is going to be hot

Great place for a base camp. The condo was fully equipped and had everything we needed. The location was purrfect for hiking Franconia Notch. The staff was friendly and helpful. No housekeeping,
but we didn't want it. Plenty of fresh towels. We had the pleasant surprise of a jacuzzi tub in our room.
Nice after a day of hiking. Quiet. Nice. Would definitely stay here again.

We got a great deal on staying here for a week. Enjoyed the resort and amazing view from our balcony. The hostess at check in was Prickly as others have reviewed, but other employees were sociable. Cannon Mt and the Gorge were very close by and although wife and I are not hikers, made the journey up Artists Bluff - Highly recommend each of these attractions. Mac's grocery had everything we needed, Pool was refreshing, Hot Tub was comforting. Wifi worked flawlessly. The wife and I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Our room was 2nd floor - Facing Cannon Mt
