We liked this historic, yet updated resort quite a bit. It is located in what we thought was a very central location that didn't seem far from anywhere we wanted to go, and was in fact very close to many places such as stores and attractions. The one problem we did have however was that despite the time of year when we went (late Sept), there was a heat wave of upper 80s to lower 90's for almost the whole week, and there is no air conditioning at all in this resort. Considering that this is mostly a winter destination with great ski hills right behind it, this wouldn't be a problem during colder weather. But for us it was almost unbearable. Especially walking into the front lobby which was absolutely suffocating. Lucky for us we had a bottom level suite on the north (shady) side of the bldg, but it was still kinda hard to bear even though they do supply fans. Staying in a suite facing the sun during hot weather would have to be nothing short of totally unbearable I'm sure, so keep this in mind when booking. Having said all that, we enjoyed the place aside from the heat, which btw also negatively affected our activities outside the resort such as hiking etc. We went up the Cannon Mtn cable tram which is right behind the resort which provided a great high angle view of the...We liked this historic, yet updated resort quite a bit. Having said all that, we enjoyed the place aside from the heat, which btw also negatively affected our activities outside the resort such as hiking etc. We went up the Cannon Mtn cable tram which is right behind the resort which provided a great high angle view of the Mittersill, and also has some very interesting history of the Mittersill and the Austrian Baron who built it posted within the building at the summit. This resort was built in the mid-40's and while it does appear older in some respects, we found that to be part of its charm, and our suite was very nice and it had just about everything we needed except a pizza pan and cutter (no blender either). For the record, we knew the place had no A/C from reading other reviews, but we thought it wouldn't be an issue since we went the last week of Sept, but Mother Nature had other plans.More
