I stay at the Burkehaven one or two times each year, and this little gem never disappoints. Having read some negative reviews here, I can only suggest that if your idea of lodging heaven is a cookie-cutter big box motel/hotel, complete with rubber eggs, look elesewhere. But if you'd love a place loaded with charm, complete with stunning mountain vistas, a lovely outdoor pool, a manager who is also THE REAL DEAL in terms of being a gracious host, then look no further. I stayed earlier this week when the temperature outside came close to 90 degrees; the ceiling and window fans in my room kept things perfectly comfortable. The pool was great, the breakfast included beautiful fresh berries along with other items, and the manager kindly let us have two cars in the parking lot. I worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years and I have to believe that people who feel they were treated "rudely" by the Burkehaven managers probably belong to the entitled generation.
It's a great place in a beautiful spot. I am grateful such places still exist.More
