The owner works here so you have someone to talk to if there are problems. New rug, clean room, good internet, breakfast in the AM. We are here for two days. Good skiing down the road 5 miles ... summer must be beautiful here.

It's a nice little country inn with no frills. We would have been pleased but discovered AFTER we checked in that because we were there during the "high" season, the owner would add over $20 to the online reservation for which we had prepaid. We learned of this the morning we were checking out. I consider it an unfair and unacceptable business practice, and was not a part of my online agreement directly with the Inn.

We do not hike our prices up after a reservation is made, high season or not. If the reservation was made for two folks and four arrive we do have to charge for the extra people.

First time staying at the Burkehaven and the nicest motel accommodations we've ever had! First, the motel is filled with charm. Our room had two comfy recliners that moved to accommodate the TV. The bathroom was very small, per usual, but there is a small area that has a seated table, with a microwave and fridge. The room had hot cocoa and coffee available, and we were gifted a pure maple syrup sample bottle (great touch!). the beds were VERY comfortable with real, soft comforters and sheets- no scratchy linens or sheets here. There is a bureau in addition to the closet, and the most adorable fake fireplace that kept the room temp cozy and added ambiance.

The main room itself was a charming common area, with numerous games for the kids and two game tables. There is a large dining table and the sliders bring in lots of sunlight. The owner sets out a delightful and filling breakfast- make your own pancakes, 5 types of regular and gluten free cereal, juices, hard boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, bagels, English muffins, bagels, and coffee with 5-6 varieties of flavored creamer to choose from. Bonus- freshly sliced strawberries, fresh blueberries, and bananas each morning. You can see he truly cares about his guests and greets them each morning and night. The pool is summer only but would be great. The motel also overlooks a beautiful view of the mountain and valley.

Only caveat- as with all motels, the walls were a tad thinner than a hotel and we heard some laughter and noise at night from the adjoining room.

Overall we would absolutely come back here and highly recommend this lovely motel/lodge!!

Thank you for the nice review. We stay in each one of our rooms once in a while just to make sure they have what we would like in any other hotel room. We will never be a fancy five star hotel, but, I sleep better when I feel at home.

We decided to stay here last minute, it was the only hotel that had a fair price and vacancy. It is tucked back in a quiet neighborhood. The owner was very friendly, the lobby had an ice machine and a fridge with sodas and water. We booked the king room and it was very clean and big. The only downsides were the walls were a little thin so you could hear your neighbors and the shower was very small. Otherwise we had a great time and we would definitely stay here again!

Thank you for the nice review. We know the bathrooms are small. I guess when the Burkehaven was built you spent the day in the lake or the pool and did not need a shower at the end of the day. We bought this place when it was on it's last leg and brought it back to retro charm. We love the Burkehaven and all the guests we have met!
