The name suggests a quaint old place, which this isn't at all. The exterior suggests an upscale retirement home or the like, and the decor reminds me rather of the same. However, the resident cat (serenely napping in the "In" box on the reception counter) suggests a homey feeling, and the kind hostess quite reinforced the impression. We were seated in a sun porch, which the ultra-lowE windows kept snug despite the cold outside.
Our waitress was very good, and made a quite proper Martini as well as keeping us well cared-for throughout the meal. Probably the best pheasant I have had, and the elk osso bucco was very good (minor point off for using too much of an oaked California red in the sauce). Wine list slants strongly domestic, but there was a serviceable Beaujolais.

We stayed for one night in October and were very impressed with the whole experience (bar the traffic through the night on the main road outside). This of course is subject to individual opinion but for us was the only negative point (and one addressed by choosing a room that is not right on the front next time). Other than that, the whole experience from check in, through to the quality of food in the evening (and at breakfast) and the warmth of the whole team was excellent and matched the quality and cleanliness of the room. For us, excellent value and one to be repeated...

We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Yes, being on a main road is a blessing and a curse; we are in a very convenient location, but there are times when we do have road noise. As you said, the rooms in the back of the inn are very quiet if you are sensitive to noise. We hope that you'll visit us again!

This is a rustic setting for a New England fall getaway but the lack of warmth upon checking in and checking out was disappointing. Our room was clean, spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The view out of our window was quaint and the area was quiet. Our breakfast was delivered to our room cold and the fact that it was left unaddressed when I left a note on the tray informing them was also disappointing. Upon leaving we were not thanked for our stay or invited to return which made us feel unwelcome.

Thank you for taking the time to give us some honest feedback. I'm so sorry that you didn't feel welcome here, and I can't offer any excuses for that. Also, the breakfast arriving cold was inexcusable. I will be sure to address all of these issues with the team and we will strive to do better. I'd love it if you could call me at the inn at your convenience so that I can make things right with you.

Almost been ten years now, and we continue to return each and every fall. The rooms (I think we've almost stayed in all of them) are spotless, charming, and wonderfully decorated. We try to pick one with a fireplace - it just adds some charm to each evening. This time we stayed in room 15, with its own living room. My wife loves to "roll down the stairs for dinner then roll back up". Friendly, accommodating, delightful. Don't forget to partake of afternoon tea and ...

Room Tip: The pictures on their website are highly accurate as to each room. You could always call to confirm something unique or important to you.

Thank you! Yes, there is something to enjoying dinner right on the property, isn't there? It's more relaxing to just walk down the stairs for dinner and not have to get in the car. We'll look forward to seeing you next year!

The facilities are very charming and our was room was delightfully comfortable. However, the warmth and friendliness offered to us from the moment we stepped in the front door is what sets this Inn apart from others... the hospitality was truly exceptional! The dinner menu is gourmet and the breakfast was the best we've had all year!
