Located downtown within walking distance from Washington St. Reservations recommended. We ate early, had no reservations but were able to get a table in the bar (lounge). This was our second visit, there will be a third and so on.

Great menu, great decor, friendly staff. Piano music a nice touch.

Excellent service and food. Had a group of 12 and the restaurant was busy, but service was great. Stayed after at the bar to listen to Dean on piano. Complimentary valet was super.

Service here is poor. Once you accept that then you'll be fine. To begin with we were ignored by the person on the desk, who preferred to chat to her friend rather than attend to new customers. As we left, the man at the desk was playing with his cellphone and far too busy to say goodnight to paying guests. As we were seated the waitress, instead of saying "good evening" just said "two of yuz?" Yes, I know it's Joisey, but even so. The food comes in small portions, so it's best to have a snack beforehand to avoid disappointment. It was really the smallest Caesar salad I've ever seen, and do muffins really go with salad? They think so here. The Crab Imperial isn't very imperial and was small enough to be an appetiser. All this wouldn't matter but the Merion isn't cheap, even by Cape May standards. You can do better elsewhere: Peter Shields (where they really care about their customers), Blue Rose, Union Park etc etc. A real disappointment.

We always look for something new and upscale for our anniversary (after 29 years we deserve it!). We had made reservations for the patio but unfortunately there were not enough reservations and did not have the servers to accommodate the opening of the patio so that was disappointing. They are limited after Labor Day. But I must say that the hostess found us a quiet area in one of their multiple rooms. We could hear the piano and it was not overbearing therefore able to have a conversation. The food was outstanding most importantly. The server was attentive (we are easy). We were very happy that a friend had made the recommendations. We love live music and we were able to enjoy a conversation at the same time. The piano is in the bar area. We ate in the "red room". Next time I will also ask not to be seated next to a 2 year old. This is fine dining and it takes a little longer to get served than a family restaurant and children will get impatient and start whining or crying. I do not like sitting next to a whiny child when we are trying to have a romantic dinner and paying over $100 for dinner. I picked this elegant fine dining restaurant hoping not to have to hear a 2y. old. Sadly that was not the case. Next time, I will ask to be seated elsewhere. I surely did not expect children in that type of place.
