Description: "The Nail," as it's known by the locals, is the famed iconic surfer bar and restaurant that made a name for itself in the '70s. And it's right here at the Beach Shack, just steps away from your room. From lifeguards and surfers to beautiful beach bunnies, they all gathered around the wood bar that was rumored to be the longest in all of Cape May. Now it's your turn to join in the fun for breakfast, lunch, dinner or its famed happy hour. Kids' meals are served on a souvenir Beach Shack Frisbee, giving you a fun after-dinner activity. Indoor spaces spill into outdoor seating, sand bar, fire pit and shuffleboard. Young, old and even four-legged friends are invited in from the beach for live entertainment and Rusty Nail's beach blanket comfort food that can also be wrapped to go.

Mussels were in a very tasty sauce. Chips and salsa turned out to be crumbs and salsa. Disgraceful. My fault for not sending it out.

The best place to hang out after a day on the beach, or for a few cocktails in the evening. Good evening entertainment.

My wife visit cape May a couple of times a year; and we always stop at this restaurant and order the lobster rolls.
This time, was no exception... we were seated at a nice but dirty table! We asked the waiter to clean it, he used a paper towel and the table remained sticky...
We asked again, and he repeated the attempt, to no avail.
My wife was very upset, and I approached one of the hostesses, and complained about the sticky table, she repeated the same futile attempt.
We ate, and left and promised to not go back again.
We went to other restaurant which we will review later.

Went in on a busy Saturday night. Ended up sitting at the bar where we had great service! Food was good and they had live music. I’d go back!

Stopped in for dinner with my family on a Thursday night around 6pm. It was busy but we were seated within a few minutes outside. It's located across from the beach and near a lot condos and hotels so they draw a good crowd. You can either eat indoors, outside on picnic tables or in the garage which is covered but they put the doors up on warm days. They also had live music near the outdoor bar. The drinks were ok but nothing special and they were overpriced for what we got IMO. I ordered the mule and the taste of ginger was barely there. For food, we ordered beef fajitas and fish tacos. The fajitas had good seasoning but the fish tacos were very bland. For the price, they should have been much better. Service was good but the tables need some TLC. The finish on the top was cracked and pieces of polyurethane were flaking off. Also, I attempted to use the S&P shakers to season my food but hardly anything came out. Both the salt & pepper had solidified (probably due to humidity or age) so they should be refreshed often.
