On arrival we were met by some very unfriendly staff who really didn't seem bothered to see us. The corridor carpets were badly stained outside the rooms, but the reception area and lifts were tidy and clean. We checked in and got to our room. The room tired and was spacious 2 large Queen sized beds but not very clean. There was a cellophane wrapper on the carpet, the carpet was stained, a used cotton bud in the living area - did the cleaners go around with their eyes shut? There were two mugs for the coffee machine, one had a broken handle and the other chipped. The bed sheets under the throw weren't ironed and all crumpled, pillow cases were different shades of white/cream.
We were informed that the restaurant and bar are franchised out, and we used this one evening as we had been travelling and desperate. The food was average. The carpet was dirty and covered in bits of food, the skirting board was grey with dust. We did go for a look for breakfast on our day of leaving but mid morning there was no one else in there, the cereals were all over the serving area, egg splashed all over, it was disgusting. We did not stay it was disgraceful. How do they think that people will eat when it is filthy?
This is not what I had expected from a Crowne Plaza which normally have a good reputation, and I work for a company that has a lot of Holiday Inn Express hotels in the UK that are pristine with excellent guest service, and put this hotel to shame.
The positive side of this hotel, the shuttle service to the airport and Jersey Mills outlet mall was very good, regular and efficient. Some of the staff we had contact with over our 3 days here were much better than other and helpful..
We had problems with the wifi working but that was resolved later.
