Description: The Madison Bar and Grill is filled with an ambiance and class that is usually reserved for Manhattan eateries. The formal dining room is cleverly decorated in a 1940s style reminiscent of a chic roadside inn. The décor works an evocative, magical mood, with bare wood floors, wainscoted walls, soft lighting and subtle touches from a bygone era. Patrons can also enjoy The Madison’s eclectic American Cuisine at the bar, or, from April-November, outdoors in an al fresco cafe that wraps around the street corner. Be sure not to miss The Madison’s Weekly Events, including the Sunday Jazz Brunch, First Seating, Tuesday Night Martini Madness, Thursday Taco Night and Endless Happy Hour. The restaurant also offers Private Parties and Off-Premises Catering. The Madison Bar and Grill is a great place for families, professionals, romantic dinners or anyone who likes to unwind and enjoy great food, drinks and service in a sophisticated, comfortable eatery.

We went with a group for brunch. Our group included two young children so we had requested a table away from the buffet area. It worked out well.

The seven adults ordered seven entrees off the menu plus a mac and cheese for the table, and everything was very good. The children’s menu met our needs.

Great drinks from the bar.

Great service.

Stopped by without reservations and they were able to accommodate our group of five, even though the restaurant was almost full. Food was tasty and there was a good selection for everyone (entree salads, wings, wide selection of pizza and other entrees). Only comment was the service was a bit slow due to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the attached bar. I would recommend this for a nice family dinner out!

Disappointed. The food was slightly above average, menu not particular varied. Should have known to take a pass as soon as we walked in; hostess advised that we would have a 35-45 minute wait, to an almost empty dining room. Walked elsewhere to find other tables to check OpenTable and we could book immediately. When other tables elsewhere in Hoboken weren’t available we returned – of course with the OpenTable angle.
Room was extremely noisy, service was dreadful – two hours, had to remind server that we had not received mains, and for dessert – she forgot completely.
All of this might have been because we went on a Friday night, and later learned that the bar turns into a meet market after around 10p.

Madison's can be good or bad depending on when you go, and what you eat. Dinners tend to be better than lunch, but the inner dining room tends to be a better place than the outer room near the bar. One problem I've found is that their draft beers tend to be flat. Also, for lunch, their menu selections are quite limited. For dinner, the offerings tend to be good.

I had dinner with my sister and niece for the first time at MBG. David, the owner, was very friendly. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the cocktails were amazing. It is a great place to watch sports or just enjoy a night out with friends. It was an overall great pleasant experience from beginning to end. I will most definitely go back, and recommend MBG to friends and family.
