Stayed at the Garden House for one night in winter: romantic, beautiful and cosy (underground heating in the bathroom!), well located with lovely gardens, close to town and all the right spots and Annette sure gives great tips on the best restaurants and a good night about town! Look forward to visiting again.

It was our third time with Annette, Barry, Lizzy, Benji, Marmaduke and co at Franschhoek (in March) and it felt like coming home. The cottage and garden were as beautiful as ever. The breakfast superb and hospitality outstanding. What can I say - we will always return to The Garden House.

What did we do - we took the bikes to have lunch at one of the vinyards, walked to town for dinner, did the walking tour at La Motte Vinyard Barry suggested (great), played Golf at Pearl Valley, relaxed at the pool, had sundowners with A+B on the veranda and still missed out on so many things (as the cycling tour Barry recommended to the dam - it was too hot).

Thanks again to Annette and Barry for everything! Your hospitality and friendship and all the great talks and laughs.

Looking forward to coming back!
Jens and Anka

The cottage at Annette and Barry's beautiful Garden House is exquisite in every way, and guarded by a massive and stately camphor tree in the courtyard. The care and kindness lavished on us by the hosts and the family pets (usually around but never intrusive) was exceptional - nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts on the terrace were wonderful, The location is perfect for walking into Franschoek, and the garden is truly breathtaking. Our 4 day stay there was for us the highlight of of our visit to the Franschoek literary festival. There is safe offstreet parking. In all The Garden House is incredible value for money.

Room Tip: The cottage is wonderful, with a court yard and separate entrance.

My husband and I have previously stayed at the Garden House and couldn't wait to return.

On returning this January we found it to be as idyllic and tranquil as always.

Pleasingly the house, room and breakfast haven't changed nor have the fury friends who always keep us company while we eat! (Anette has a number of rescue cats and dogs).

5 stars for super-hosts Anette and Barry!

We ended up extending our stay at this totally delightful place. Annette and Barry are affable and welcoming, and the setting is just perfect. Incredible breakfast, lovely pool, views, easy access to everything in town but feels nicely tucked away. Everything clean and to high standard. We will definitely try to come back!
