I stayed at the Matahari for 16 nights and had the best time!
The location is brilliant... straight out the fron is Suci's Place a house reef which is just amazing for macro photography.... a 100m along the beach to the right is another great dive site, The Drop Of; as the name suggests, its a steep wall dropping to perhaps 100m? with great marine life everywhere... and then of course about 200m down the beach to the left of Matahari is the Liberty Wreck.
I did 36 wonderful dives in 12 days, accommpanied by Parta, the best local dive guide I have ever had in my 40 yeras of diving. His skill in finding small creatures was amazing which meant I got sooooo many more photos than usual. He was great helping me with my camera equipment and ensuring that it was cared for when entering and exiting the water.
The food at the Matahari restaurant was fabulous, a huge variety of choices and every dish I had was beautifully cooked.All the staff were very helpful and courteous and made me feel very welcome. Lots of extras were included in my package which made my stay even better including a free massage and day out sightseeing.Thank you Suci for your wonderful hospitality..... I will definitely return!

I had an amazing week staying at matahari tulamben, great dive master and attentive service by the staffs!
Highly recommended if you are looking for a place away from the busy bali touristy places!

I made a last minute reservation and the staff was prepared for my arrival. The property is located on a very narrow strip perpendicular to the ocean, so there is a an alleyway with rooms on either side, so the view from most of the rooms is not scenic. BUT, you shouldn't be in your rom other than sleeping and showering anyway!!! The pool and restaurant areas have sweeping views of the ocean.

The room was what I expected for the very good price- clean, comfortable and functional. I didn;'t need any of the frills that higher end hotels offer. The included breakfast had a number of egg and pancake choices and was freshly cooked and tasted good.

A major shout out to the owner Suci ace absentmindedly left my passport at the hotel and was already 3.5 hours away once I realized it. She arranged that the passport could be delivered the following morning to ensure I could make my international flight. I was so grateful for her effort and initiative on my behalf. She truly solved an incredibly stressful situation.

If you are diving at the Liberty wreck, you can't get much more convenient than Matahari.
