Stayed here for the third time in mid November. The welcome is always warm and friendly, the staff are amazing. We stayed in the Master Bedroom, it's spacious and has a lovely view out to sea. The diving was as good as ever - lots of critters to see. I am a fan of the wonderpus and the mimic octopus and we managed to see them on several dives. The dive guides are incredible at spotting things and guests are always consulted about which sites they would like to dive. The boat captains and boat boys are great, too. They set up all your gear and help you get into the water without any fuss. The food is very good. As vegetarians it is often a bit of a worry whether there will be enough options. This is never a problem at Villa Markisa, there is always a wide choice of dishes. We loved the new veggie meals that Pedro and Judith were developing. The gardens are lovely with the ground staff busy all day. We enjoyed watching the visiting arborist climb the tall palm trees to remove the dead fronds and fruit. The massages are very relaxing, the staff have exactly the right touch. We also had several sessions of yoga with a local teacher who came to the Villa. Trying out our wobbly poses beside the sea was extra calming. Thanks to Pedro, Nina and all the staff for making our stay so luxurious and relaxing.

Room Tip: All rooms and bungalows are good. The master bedroom has a lovely view out to sea.

I spent another happy week in this glorious resort. The standards that Christiane and Pedro set are the highest and never waver. From the moment you arrive you are pampered and treated as the most important person there.
The food is always delicious with great choices. My room was ideal for a single traveller and always clean and tidy.
I came for the diving and this was again superb with great boat dives to nearby sites and an excellent guide, Noris, found me the most amazing creatures with never failing good humour. He was of course superbly supported by the boat boys, dive staff and compressor operators all of whom it was a pleasure to spend time with.
I love this place and its people.

Room Tip: All rooms are superb.

Great locations for diving! Everything is so close and convenient. Plus the resort is beautiful and the sunrises very inspiring. The staff is very friendly and they treat you like family. The food and the massages were fantastic and they catered to your every need! The diving crew were very patient with me, as I wasn't a confident diver when I arrived, but I can say that after our 3 day stay, I really enjoyed diving especially with the turtle! Our kids loved the night diving and seeing the white reef shark! That was the highlight of their trip! So thanks to Pedro, Nina and Norris and everyone else at Villa Markisa! We had a great time!

Villa Markisa is a rare, precious gem. Our dives with them were absolutely incredible and some of the best of our lives, but what really blew us away was the attention to detail that the staff pays to everything to create a perfect, memorable, peaceful experience for guests. From the grounds and the rooms, to the food and dives, it's simply perfection. They made our vacation so relaxing, fun, delicious, effortless and enjoyable - we'll never forget it. It was the perfect stay in the most perfect location.

When you stay at Villa Markisa, they tailor everything to you and your preferences, and they do it totally unobtrusively. Each member of their team pays careful attention to your preferences and makes sure that your desires are met throughout your stay, without you having to ask or tell them, which is the mark of a truly special place. From the massage therapist, who remembers the exact pressure you prefer to get the kinks out of your shoulders and your favorite flowers to have in the massage room. To your personal dive master, who personalizes your dives to show you exactly the kinds of things you want to see (be it the big stuff, like giant bumphead parrotfish and cod, to teeny tiny pigmy seahorses and rare microscopic creatures), and they always prepare your gear exactly how you like it. To the room maintenance staff, who wait for you to leave for dinner before turning down your bed and arranging the mosquito net and plumping your pillow. To the kitchen staff who remember how much you adore their piping hot, crusty pretzel bread and have a couple extra baked and ready for your breakfast each morning.

Villa Markisa is truly impressive. It's no wonder that many people come back here time and time again. One other guest told me that the staff always remembers that she hates geckos and they make sure to shoe them out of the room before she arrives. That's how attentive they are to the details. And they are super responsive too - Nina was so helpful in arranging our transport from/to Sanur and accommodating our dietary restrictions.

The location is also spectacular, and their gorgeous tropical garden is meticulously kept. There's always something beautiful in bloom. And the food, which is included, is delicious!

As for the dives, WOW! We dove the Liberty Wreck twice and we are so glad we did since our dive master took us on different routes and we got totally different experiences on those dives. They got us in the water before any other dive groups, so we got the rare chance to have the wreck all to ourselves for a while on both dives, which was absolutely incredible. You probably already know everything there is to see on the wreck - from giant schools of bumphead parrotfish to colorful leaf scorpionfish - so I won't go into detail on that, except to say that the dives were even better than we expected (and that's saying something!) We also dove the coral garden and the wall. The wall was one of our favorite dives - the colors were mind-blowing - and there was no one else there!

For those who need a break from diving or who have spouses who don't dive, they also offer really interesting and fun land-based excursions, from hiking volcanos and visiting temples, to walking in beautifully terraced rice fields. I wish we'd stayed longer so we could have done all their tours.

Villa Markisa is a little slice of heaven, a peaceful place of perfection. We will most certainly be back here! It's one of the most wonderful places we've ever had the pleasure to visit.

We came here as our honeymoon vacation, looking for a vacation and scuba diving. Villa Markisa did not disappoint! I have never in my life been so well treated or pampered by a staff, and don't think I will ever find this great of service again. The owner is the nicest woman we have come across in our travels and so accommodating. Each meal here was better than the last, which is incredible. The diving was SPECTACULAR! We did all boat dives, which was easy and carefree thanks to the super helpful staff. We not only saw cuttlefish but found two males fighting over a female! We have already begun saving in order to go back! Quick note for expectations- it takes a while to drive to the resort. That doesn't change our experience or opinions, just be ready for the drive. You do get to see so much of the country side!
