I just finished the most amazing 11 days at Villa Markisa, where because of cancellations I was the only guest. You would not have known it from the complete level of service I received. True, Mount Agung erupted in the fall of 2017, forcing evacuations for weeks at a time, but that is not the case now. Villa Markisa and Tulamben are open for business. The dive operation, housekeeping, spa (massage), dining, etc., etc. were operating as normal. I enjoyed 26 great dives, mostly muck/macro photography and could not have asked for better conditions. The diversity and abundance of undersea life here, all within a 10-12 minute (really) boat ride, or on Seraya Secrets their house reef astounded me.
For me, being the only guest, the time to be quiet and keep my own schedule was special. Never, did I feel that the attention or opportunities from the resort staff were reduced just because they only had one guest. I have already reserved my dates for March of 2019, but if you are considering Bali and Tulamben, don't delay. Villa Markisa will welcome you with open arms, and you will benefit from diving some of the most amazing sites in Bali with hardly any other divers right now.More
