Was a very nice time.
We could choose the time of our dives by our self.
Then we dived without guide, nobody was asking, why we was comeing back first after 100minutes and more :-)
As long the tank gives air, you stay ;-)

We are just back from a 10 day stay with Matahari. I will start with the booking process:
Absolutely spot on, very quick replies to emails and easy online payments with PayPal available. we were met at the airport and had a great driver for the 2 1/2 - 3hr drive. check in was easy.
The rooms were ready and clean. If you are looking for 5 star western style accommodation then this is the wrong part of the world for you, Matahari does however give you nice clean rooms that were comfortable enough for us for the 10 night stay. The air con worked well and plenty of power points for charging camera batteries etc.
The staff are all very friendly and they really do try very hard to get what you want right, however on occasion they may make a mistake but this is probably due to limited understanding of English, But you cannot criticize when they give 100% effort.
Our travel companions had an issue with things going bump in the roof of their room at night, seems a local cat had chosen their ceiling space as a great place to raise her kittens, the staff had a couple of unsuccessful attempts to relocate the squatters without success so our friends were quickly relocated to a new room, great service.
The dive shop at first appearance seems to have a staff of hundreds and it was difficult for us at first to work out who were workers and who were guides etc, perhaps different uniform shirts for guides and instructors would be useful? The schedule board doesn't change from day to day with guided dives to liberty wreck, drop off and Suci place (house reef). Other dive sites are shown on the map and i am sure that visits to these could be easily arranged. The option to do independent dives was also a welcome option. Our feeling of the overall dive shop operation was that it was a bit dis-organized and would benefit greatly from a dedicated manager. Once in the water the guides were great and very professional, special mention to Wayan kiri His service was outstanding. The free Nitrox was very welcome, my friend did his enriched course while there and Didi the instructor was very professional. We used our own equipment so cant really comment on their gear but we saw many divers use it and it all seemed to be in good condition.
The restaurant is located on two levels on the waters edge, the menu was enough to keep us going for the 10 days with us only eating outside on two occasions. Food quality was overall pretty good, especially the Asian based meals. Restaurant staff were really helpful and gave 100% effort.

This is our second visit to the Matahari Tulamben Dive Center. Diving is available with or guide 4 times a day or you can go independently any time at your leisure. On arrival the staff will sort out any kit you require and choice of air or nitrox. If diving with a guide they will assist you and give any help that you should need. Tanks and jackets are carried by the 'ladies' to the waters edge for your dive. These are then collected again after the dive. There are 2 camera freshwater tanks and a further 4-5 tanks for all other gear. There are toilets and showers available. After the dive you can get food and drinks at the restaurant on site. There are 4 different dive sites available straight from this hotel. In addition there are also various sites by boat.

This resort is located just at the edge of the beach: that makes it perfect for sun bathing and, also, for diving -really interesting underwater points there. Its diving center works like a clockwork and gives the divers a lot of leeway.
Besides that, the people that work there are higly professional -they add that to the warm Balinese way of behaving: you always feel welcomed.
