We were big fans of one of the higher rated properties but wanted to try a new place this year. While the Auslander isn't new it's lack of a listing on this site, has made it a well kept secret in Red River. Like so many of the properties in Red River, this is a great little hideaway with close proximity to everything (including ski lifts). The Auslander is exceptional in their amenities and frankly not sure why they are listed as a condominium. This place has the same amount of services as any of the highly rated hotels minus the cleaning service.
Our 3 bedroom 2 bath flat was the best price we found in town. In fact much cheaper than the prices of hotels including our some of our old haunts. So much so, we could afford a whole week's stay. It was newly renovated and super clean. I wasn't sure how we would fare without having someone turn down the rooms, but we hardly noticed given the fact that they picked up our linens and trash every day before 9:30 am. Seven of us slept comfortably in the unit, with everyone getting their own bed.
Each unit has it's own balcony with STUNNING views. This is one of the best parts of this hotel. Each flat has at least some kind of serene view. Other properties will not have much going on in this department. In fact some of the better rated properties here will only give you partial or street views. The Auslander really delivers on that getaway in the mountains; where you wake up with coffee or hot tea on a cool mountain morning - that part was awesome.
The grounds were lush green and beautiful with well kept flower beds. We loved the feel of the place, very serene. We loved the common area with the huge outdoor fire pit. The grounds keepers kept it freshly stocked with wood and this gave way to lots of use with s'mores for the kids and late night fire side talks for my wife and I. For families all the units face into the common area - so for me and my wife we could always see the kids. That was a huge perk and made for more relaxed parents.
The property also came with 2 hot tubs including one very large hot tub that could fit 15-20 guests. This was a big part of our late night routine after s'mores. The kids enjoyed the warm dip and the adults discuss the highlights of the day and soaked up the relaxation.
Again in comparison to other properties on the river, this property has a smaller stream running through the back side of the property. While not as picturesque it felt safer. Also the fishing in the ponds by the property (3 of them) was great! Be sure to get the white dough power bait; you'll slay the trout :)
While staying here we saw our first live Red River Bear! Ask any local and they'll tell you that those are rare sights. But this fella meandered right into the parking lot to check out the digs. We all got lots of thrills from the visit!! The squeals of kids (and Dads) quickly shooed him off, but it was a rare treat for our trip.
The sum review is that this is a pristine very well maintained property, great service and perfect proximity to town but nestled into the mountain.
