Quick summary; plenty of diverse wildlife, excellent ranger, many opportunities to interact with international, interesting guests, plenty of snacks and meals. In May bring t-shirts for warm day time temperatures, but bundle up for morning and night safaris.

We decided on Gomo Gomo solely because they offered air-conditioned cabins and WiFi. Temperatures can fluctuate more than 20 degrees Fahrenheit on a given day in the Greater Kruger National, so the protection of a cabin at night and air conditioning during the day was perfect. The WiFi was a bit slow. However, this is true for the entire Koger area.

The excellent, small group safaris in an open Range Rover were ideal. Each Safari was better than the one before! Our guide/ranger, Warren, was informative, humorous, entertaining, and kept updated on sightings via radio. Drinks and homemade snacks were provided during each Safari.

The staff was very safety conscience. We were escorted to the lodge/ cabin when it was dark outside. The cabins were equipped with communication radios, fire extinguishers, etc. A fence surrounded the property kept dangerous animals at bay, with two entrances, should one be blocked by animals.

Dedicated staff, considerate of individual diet restrictions, thoughtfully prepared meals and snacks. However, most of the food, although tasty and well proportioned, was a bit laden with carbohydrates and fat.

One of the best aspects of Gomo Gomo was the sharing of experiences among multinational guests. We enjoyed the interaction among guests, encouraged by meals served at a communal table and small Safari groups.

We stayed in cabin 3, which had 2 rooms and a bath. The cabin had a double and 2 twin beds with a great view of the watering hole. It was probably the closest cabin to the lodge which made it a very convenient location. The cabins were fairly clean despite brick and wood construction.

The day at Gomo Gomo was well planned, keeping us busy yet allowing down time during warm hours to rest or mingle.

Below is the “Suggested Daily Program” for early May that was given to us upon arrival:

05:15 Wake Up Call
5:45 Coffee/Tea & Confectionaries
06:00 Morning Game Drive
09:00 Back at Camp
09:30 Breakfast
OPTIONAL: Game Walk
14:00 Lunch
15:45 Afternoon Game Drive
19:00 Back at Camp & Pre Dinner Drinks
19:30 Dinner

An excellent place to experience your first game drives. Very friendly staff and excellent driver and tracker (JP and Caswell) who made the whole experience memorable and something that we will want to do again. Accommodation was comfortable with AC, great veranda and shower to wash away the dust! Food was excellent and plentiful.

What agreat experience we had at Gomo Gomo ! J.P. and Caswell were terrific at locating the animals day and night. We saw the Big Five close up plus many more exciting animals such as the Honey Badger and wild dogs. The accommodation was excellent and all the staff were friendly and happy. Cannot speak too highly of Gomo Gomo !

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in Gomo Gomo as part of our honeymoon in August, and from the time we arrived in the afternoon on the Friday, until the time we left on the Tuesday afternoon, it was an experience we won't ever forget.

This review is 100% subjective - my opinion - I can't speak for any other person other than myself so please keep that in mind.

We flew into Hoedspruit and got a transfer from the airport to the lodge. From what people were saying to us when we arrived, the drive from Jo'Burg to Klaserie is definitely worth doing so that's on the list for next time.

From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel at home - Carina who met us at the front of the lodge, Tayrin who helped us get set up in our room, Enslin who had lunch with us - all were extremely friendly, and that continued on for the entire duration of our stay.

We went for our first game drive that evening with our ranger JP, and it didn't disappoint. About 15 minutes into the drive we stopped so that a herd of 30/35 elephants could pass by, some only a couple of metres from the jeep. I was completely blown away - never experienced anything like that before! That kick started a very interesting drive which ended with us driving very quickly to see a leopard!

On each game drive we stopped for drinks and snacks - coffee in the morning, beer in the evening - it's quite something to have a beer watching the beautiful sunset, with the Drakensberg mountain range in the distance. Unreal!

The food in the lodge was excellent - gorgeous breakfasts, tasty lunches, three course dinners, all prepared by the wonderful kitchen staff there. Aoife and I are not picky eaters and love trying different foods so we didn't mind at all that the menu was set for us. Still thinking about the chocolate brownie!

We really enjoyed staying up for a little while each night after dinner and having some drinks at the bar. For the nights that we were there JP, Damien, Carina, and Tayrin all stuck around after dinner to chat. We got on so well with them and it added so much to the whole trip.

Our ranger JP was/is an absolute legend! He worked so ridiculously hard on every drive and we got to see so much because of that. He could spot things and tell us what was happening in the blink of an eye. Lions, vultures, rhinos, hippos, honey badgers... All of the drivers worked extremely well together, and we benefited from it. [Mind your head coming back into the lodge if you're in the back of the jeep :-)]

Our private lodge was so lovely too. Comfy bed, spacious bathroom, clean. Lovely view of the watering hole (another highlight - seeing a herd of steenbok, or elephants, come to have a drink while you're relaxing in the afternoon is quite something).

Long review and it doesn't even do our stay justice. We would go back here in a heartbeat - absolutely loved it!
