Description: The KTAOS Solar Bar is the place to meet friends for happy hour, enjoy a variety of live music acts, dig into authentic tacos, and of course bring out-of-town guests. The KTAOS Solar Bar offers an unparalleled bar experience, framed by two operating radio stations. All that separates bar patrons from the live solar-powered radio broadcast are large panels of quarter-inch glass. The KTAOS Solar Bar's indoor lounge area and solar-powered radio stations can only be matched by the huge, rolling backyard lawn that borders the Taos Pueblo lands, offering spectacular views of the sacred Taos Mountain.

The view is incredible! Why anyone would eat downtown Taos is beyond me, but I recommend sitting outside and soaking in the view!

Fun idea -- a restaurant set between two working radio stations. But the views of the mountains gave this casual, locals place a real boost for our enjoyment. In summer the deck would be amazing. We were there on a night when local legend Jimmy Stadler was performing -- WOW!!! Not only is he incredibly talented, playing multiple instruments well and singing, but he clearly has a passion for teaching music (he talked about his students). He played for 2 hours straight before taking a short break, and when he came back recharged the music got even better. He offered a combination of rock from the 70s, 80s, 90s, plus a little Flamenco. Our group truly enjoyed his show. The food, was tasty -- a menu of fairly typical pub selections with some local twists and more choices than we expected for a venue like this. Our only disappointment was service was really slow, but they were packed when we arrived. It did improve a little as the crowd thinned. We would definitely return next time we're in Taos - and especially if Stadler is playing.

Just love the beer selection and the yummy burgers. Relaxed, informal atmosphere. Love coming here after a hike in the mountains. Happy hour discounts on food and beer is fab.

We stopped here on a weekday afternoon to grab a bite to eat. We both had a blue cheese burger and fries. They were pretty darn good. The entrance into the bar is pretty sweet. And the radio station embedded in the room is really cool. The atmosphere at KTAO is definitely family-friendly. This is a place locals hangout at and play volleyball. Will stop in again.

One of the fun things about visits to Taos is tuning into KTAO radio once you get within range and enjoying the tunes. So the idea of chilling with an adult beverage at their station and hearing live bands here sounds great. Maybe it was just the day I came, but there was no music playing in the bar (it was around 6:30 p.m.). It would be so much better if they were jamming the songs they are actually playing on the radio because the radio station plays great stuff! On the plus side the outdoor grassy area is spectacular because of its fantastic view of the mountains, spaciousness, and grass and shade in the evening. It was worth it for a drink and a view while sitting outside, very relaxing. Although I didn't eat, the menu was surprisingly larger than expected too.
