We were planning a weekend trip to Taos and wanted to stay somewhere different. Someone recommended a bread and breakfast place...I immediately thought of a crowded breakfast table, sitting with people we didn't know, having to eat a breakfast made of veggies.....but we decided on giving it a try.
We decided to stay at Casa de Benadivez...right downtown within walking distance of the town plaza. I had seen name, but never paid attention to a "bread and breakfast" as a weekend place.
Wow! I was surprised with courteous staff as soon as we walked in. Wonderful lobby area...but the best part were the rooms. Very comfortable...set within a small plaza area for only several rooms. Very private, but not overbearingly quiet. Relaxing best describes outdoor plaza and room. Parking was perfect, away from street and traffic. The area where our room was, very quiet and enjoyable.
Breakfast was a big surprise. Options on what one wanted to order...and it was very delicious and made to order. Definitely had a New Mexico decor in the eating area...large enough and private enough where one didn't feel overcrowded. The morning staff was very attentive and very helpful.
I would highly recommend La Casa de Benidevez if you are looking for a great place to stay. Our stay broke many false myths of a bread and breakfast. I enjoyed our weekend stay...wanting to stay longer because I felt very relaxed and my spirit geared way down to one free from any anxiety and concerns.
Looking for a great place to stay, right near plaza, with very comfortable rooms, excellent & courteous staff, wonderful setting away from noise and traffic...this is the place.
Enjoy a long weekend or extended stay here and you will leave Taos
blessed by your visit!

The location is perfect on Kit Carson Road where you can walk to almost everything. I stayed for 3 nights and have no complaints. It oozes New Mexico charm, and the rooms were clean and comfortable, supplied with quality toiletries. The linens were high quality and the bed was so comfortable. The best is the gourmet home cooked breakfast in the morning served on Mexican pottery with cloth napkins in a beautiful room. There is also tea everyday in that same room from 3-6 with the most delicious fresh baked pastries. I go to an event once a year in Taos and i already have my room booked for next year. I would call this a perfect place to stay.

New Mexico style décor and the best breakfast ever! Made to order breakfast with your choice of tortilla/egg dishes, French toast or waffles and the best homemade muffins. Afternoon tea is an added bonus. The rooms have wood and mexican tile floors and are decorated with art.

This is what Casa Benavides means as we were told by the charming owner, Tom.

The main living room and kitchen/dining room is filled with wonderful artwork and Southwest decorations. The breakfast they served is very filling with yogurt, fruit, homemade granola and muffins along with your choice of a hot entree (waffle, french toast, egg dish). In the afternoons, they serve lemonade, tea or coffee with a buffet of delicious homemade baked treats. They have a nice patio where you could sit outside and enjoy your dessert in the afternoons.

The location was great and on the main street next to shops and restaurants that were within walking distance. Parking was easy and we had space right outside our door. We stayed in the Asoma room which was large and comfortable. The lighting could be a bit brighter for reading but that was just a tiny issue.

For the price this was a great place to stay.

August was a wonderful time to be in Taos again this year!
The Casa Benavides B & B was beautiful as usual - helpful staff, delicious food, and lovely setting.
Consider visiting Taos the first weekend of August for the annual Garden and Home tour. It is fabulous!
Only negative this time around (we stay here every summer for 9 years) was the mattress in the Chimayo room was too firm for us. We have stayed in this room in the past and not had a problem. However, I would not stay in this room again. It's fine for someone who needs a very firm bed for their back, but that does not describe our needs.
Several of the other rooms we have staryed in have been comfortable (Cowboy room, Aztec, Guatamala, Genado Red, Frontier, Fechin, Blue Lady).
Another plus, however, the hot tub was great!

Room Tip: Chimayo Room with queen bed was too firm for me. Comfortable beds in Cowboy, Frontier, Azteca, Ganad...
