This was the third camp we stayed at in Botswana and probably the best. All the staff from the management down are focused on ensuring you have the best time possible.
The 'tent' is very comfortable, nice bed, good bathroom and the outside additional shower was a delight. The cooling unit is a good addition for the hotter days. They will wash your clothes and return same day, so it saves bringing quite so much with you.
The food and wine is very good, particularly for such a remote location.
All the staff were very friendly and attentive and they join you for meals so plenty opportunity to chat to them as well as fellow travellers.
Our guide, Gordon, was amazing. Each day I gave him my wish list and he delivered plus more. He always had that little surprise up his sleeve. You will see all the big cats- go on a night drive and you will see some of the smaller ones as well. And don't miss the walking safari, you learn so much about tracks, spoor etc - it was fascinating.
The staff attitude has rubbed off on the animals in the reserve - they are so relaxed they pose for your photos instead of running away as the jeep approaches.
We will definitely return and I have no hesitation to recommend this camp to others.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The archetypal Okavango game-viewing destination. Raised on decks on a beautiful tree island in the south-east of the Okavango, Chitabe Camp looks out across a Delta floodplain that is transformed during winter from dry rushes to lush oasis, one of only a few distinct habitats in this diverse concession. Back in camp, the thatched dining and lounge area provide beautiful views, while each tent exudes its own personality, aided by superb fine art wildlife photographs. A pool provides cool sanctuary in the heat of the day. Highlights: On this classic safari experience, game drives take in the different habitats - the variety of these ensures that there is an equal diversity of wildlife, including big game such as elephant and buffalo, but also a range of plains game species like wildebeest, tsessebe and lechwe in numbers that support healthy lion, leopard and hyaena numbers, as well as regular visits by wild dog and cheetah. The camp is composed of 8 tents: spacious en-suite Meru-type tents, individually styled; outdoor shower; double vanity basins. Experiences include: day and night game drives • guided walks (on request). ... more less
