This was the third camp we stayed at in Botswana and probably the best. All the staff from the management down are focused on ensuring you have the best time possible.
The 'tent' is very comfortable, nice bed, good bathroom and the outside additional shower was a delight. The cooling unit is a good addition for the hotter days. They will wash your clothes and return same day, so it saves bringing quite so much with you.
The food and wine is very good, particularly for such a remote location.
All the staff were very friendly and attentive and they join you for meals so plenty opportunity to chat to them as well as fellow travellers.
Our guide, Gordon, was amazing. Each day I gave him my wish list and he delivered plus more. He always had that little surprise up his sleeve. You will see all the big cats- go on a night drive and you will see some of the smaller ones as well. And don't miss the walking safari, you learn so much about tracks, spoor etc - it was fascinating.
The staff attitude has rubbed off on the animals in the reserve - they are so relaxed they pose for your photos instead of running away as the jeep approaches.

We will definitely return and I have no hesitation to recommend this camp to others.

Room Tip: All tents are the same, just nicely spaced out round the camp

Dear ColchesterSleeper,

Walking safaris with skilled guides offers you the exciting opportunity of coming across big game on foot as well as observing the smaller things you miss when travelling by vehicle. We are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed this as well as all the time you spent with Gordon - we will be sure to share your kind words with him and all the staff in camp.

Bush regards

Our room was a delight, very comfortable and spacious. Nice to have charging points in the room and not to have to take everything to a communal area. The drives were good, but unfortunately having had a superb time in our last camp, not quite as exciting. That's the way the cookie crumbles! The camp staff were very friendly indeed and we were very grateful to the kitchen for providing a recipe for the delicious Mushroom Bourgignon. Thanks very much to the staff for an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: All similar - bush camp

Tented camp with all the proper amenities. Wonderful staff who really DO take care of your every need. On two separate visits have seen wild painted dog that I hadn't seen on 4 previous trips to SA. And we plan to return.

Room Tip: This is a private small tented camp--there are no suites or upper or lower floors

Thank you Konstance for the fabulous review, we are thrilled to see you enjoyed your sightings of the local wild dogs. Chitabe is a strong supporter of the Botswana Predator Conservation Trust which was started by Dr JW McNutt in 1989 as a research project focused on Africa’s most endangered large carnivore, the African wild dog. Chitabe supports the programme financially and the researchers logistically; Chitabe guides help in data collection; to find out more about this life changing Trust you can visit the bpctrust website.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

This was the 4th camp we stayed at during our time on safari. By far, it was the most service oriented. The staff catered to the guests in every way possible. The guides really delivered on seeing the big cats and other interesting animals. We got to see the endangered wild dogs and their pups which was very exciting for us. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and many many more. Lovely pool to lounge at during afternoon break.

My Wife and I visited Chitable Camp the first week of September,2017 and we were both very pleased with our experience. The wildlife drives were always actioned packed, with virtually one encounter after another. Our room was pretty incredible considering the remote setting, the bed very comfortable with easy access thru mosquito netting. The bathroom was well appointed with a hardwood vanity and modern plumbing. The food was good, not fine dinning, but considering the logistics, very good overall. The people we met at the camp were all exceptional people and we enjoyed the mixed company and dinners.Overall, this was an exceptional wildlife experience, can not wait to go again.

Room Tip: I think Chitable is an excellent camp to start your Okavango Delta Safari, close to Maun and loaded w...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The archetypal Okavango game-viewing destination. Raised on decks on a beautiful tree island in the south-east of the Okavango, Chitabe Camp looks out across a Delta floodplain that is transformed during winter from dry rushes to lush oasis, one of only a few distinct habitats in this diverse concession. Back in camp, the thatched dining and lounge area provide beautiful views, while each tent exudes its own personality, aided by superb fine art wildlife photographs. A pool provides cool sanctuary in the heat of the day. Highlights: On this classic safari experience, game drives take in the different habitats - the variety of these ensures that there is an equal diversity of wildlife, including big game such as elephant and buffalo, but also a range of plains game species like wildebeest, tsessebe and lechwe in numbers that support healthy lion, leopard and hyaena numbers, as well as regular visits by wild dog and cheetah. The camp is composed of 8 tents: spacious en-suite Meru-type tents, individually styled; outdoor shower; double vanity basins. Experiences include: day and night game drives • guided walks (on request). ... more   less
