I wanted to take my special lady to a special place to celebrate our 27th anniversary. I called for reservations and in conversation mentioned it was an anniversary celebration.upon arrival there was valet parking. Entering the restaurant, we were greeted, reservation was checked, and brought to our table. Menus were presented, water and hot bread delivered. Everything on the menu is a la cart, and higher priced thus making this location a special occasion restaurant. We had a glass of white wine to toast our occasion, and our server came by and told us of the specials. I was impressed that he remembered it all. We chose two of the mentioned specials, duck, and scallops, with a side of spinach, and four jumbo shrimp for the appetizer. The wine was good, water was refilled without a cue, and a another hot bread was ordered. The shrimp arrived on a ice filled tray with lemon and cocktail sauce. They were skinless, large and meaty. The meals arrived with impressive status. The spinach side was a tasty purée. With my duck came string beans and a yam purée. The food was delicious and prepared well. For dessert we shared a parfait. Every time our plates were removed, the table was cleaned off of crumbs. The parfait arrived with a surprise touch. It was remembered that this was an anniversary dinner, and the parfait arrived on a platter with lit candles in two strawberries with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. The parfait was made with fresh whip cream, chocolate pudding, and berries. A delicious way to end a delicious meal. It as a great dinner experience. We were not rushed, service was tops as the staff was polite and courteous. Through the meal, staff checked with us to be sure all was well. It was a grand celebration!!
I had trouble clicking the ratings so I will include them within this narrative. Service, Food, and Value are Excellent.

This is a restaurant consisting of a number of different rooms with different decor so that you don’t feel like you are in a big restaurant. We found it to be charming and welcoming once we had conquered our gps and actually got to the place. The trick, if you’re coming from the Tappan Zee, was to keep on going after your gps says that you have arrived; it is further down the road on the left, not the right.
The food—excellent ingredients, well prepared. We tried soup, salads, chicken and fish, all delicious. The service—excellent. We went during the Restaurant Week promotion, arriving late for their next to the last reservation time and they did not rush us but let us take our time. They make you feel as though they are taking care of you.

Wife and I had a weekday evening meal. I ordered the "classic" beef wellington. The reason why they call it classic is an ode to the former restaurant serving this dish. The excellent French-accent waiter told me that the Pastry puff was filled with 3 mushrooms and foix gras. The flavor was rich and the mushroom sauce was earthy and savory. My wife ordered the scallops. They had a delightful charred taste. Our appetizer was the moules frites. It was excellent.

carpet worn out at the entrance. not a good welcome touch. just looks old and not charming any more. that is why the average age of the diner was perhaps 70 or older. one or two younger couples.

biggest disappointment is that no one in the restaurant responds to an yof the reviews posted. why not? they don't care?

also, if you are not familiar with the location of the restaurant and it is dark out - you will pass right by it. the sign is not lit and not visible from the road. dangerous and inconsiderate.pitch black and we had to make a u-turn.

wife and i went during restaurant week 6:45 saturday night. were seated in the room we requested. the table was next to the fireplace, which was not burning, and cold air was coming down the flu right into our feet.

the server referred to us as "you guys" like we were in a pizza joint and we were teenagers. did this twice. requested lemon w our water and he forgot and had to be reminded. not a good sign.

the food was excellent. beet salad, burrata cheese salad, trout and ribs. upside down apple cake w ice cream and chocolate dome. nice size portions and plated very nicely.

one of the managers did stop at our table a few times to ask if we were enjoying our meal - which we were. that wa a good sign. but t seems like most of the serving staff was college students.

We have been to Peter Kelly's Yonkers restaurant many times and love it and decided to try Restaurant X, the Congers,NY location. The restaurant is in need of a facelift. The chairs were so stained, I hesitated to sit down. The appetizers were good, but the entrees were average at best. The service was disappointing & even needed to request bread three times. If you are looking for a true dining experience, this is not it.
