We had a great hike here with our dog on the Gorge trail and then the East rim trail. Lots of steps though! The hikes are only about a mile but there are many steps on the rim trail. It wasn't very crowded on the trail and we met several nice groups including others with dogs. There was also a nice playground area at the parking lot. The pool area was open but the water was 48 degrees and empty! A smaller park and waterfall than Letchworth State Park which we saw last year but definitely less crowded.

We try to see this park at least once a year. The Gorge walk is absolutely beautiful and for young kids and teens alike, the ability to go under the waterfalls and play in the 'brook' with it's turns and cascades is so much fun. The pool ( actually the stream dammed off), though always rather frigid, is well maintained and fun. The playground at the pool is very large and diverse, the 'under 12' group really loved it.

The State Park is filled with hiking trails, scenic overlooks, spectacular waterfalls and picnic areas. Admission is only $7 so get ready to 'fall' in love with Stony Brook.

We stop at Stony Brook every year during our vacation trip to enjoy a picnic lunch. Then we walk up the gorge trail to see the waterfalls and the cliffs and the forest. It's less than a mile to hike from the picnic area to the upper falls. Access from I-390 is easy; take Exit 4 and follow the signs to the park.

Very peaceful and relaxing. Good place to spend few hours as a long drive break. Grab a water and fit cloth as it might be muddy a bit.
